Allan Slutsky is the guy behind the making of "Standing in the Shadows of Motown", the story of the band known as "the Funk Brothers".
If y'all have not seen that movie, get RIGHT OUT and rent it or, better yet, BUY IT tonight.

Oh Yes, I've rented the "Funk Brothers" video and loved every minute of it and don't forget the bass player also.
I purchased "Funk Guitar Rhythm Chops" from GC for about $19.95. The DVD is loaded so get ready to hit pause, rewind and slow motion several times. :o)

It's got allot to do with the amp, but I'm pretty sure those single coils are what's funky there...

Strats were made for funk....as welll as rock, blues, jazz, country, etc (even metal).  The 7 sus4 chord is one of my faves; I use it alot in a variety of contexts.
