Title: Trying to minister 2
Post by: blessedmusician94 on October 11, 2008, 02:57:28 AM
Hello yet again ministers in Christ. Once again i have an issue..... i practice daily but i cant seem to get a routine down. For example, I usually start off with my scales, then move on to chords inversions and after that I'm lost. I try to practice progressions but i feel like i'm spinning my wheels. I'm not really looking for a routine, because with a routine you eventually you stop progressing I guess what I'm asking is can someone please help me find a foundation that i can bulid off of, or a list of things for beginners that are vital to becoming a minsister of music. So far this my practice session:

Hannon exercise #1
Scales (mostly major and minor and pentatonic... blues and jazz i'm slowly leaning towards)
learning chords and their inversons ( mostly tirads......slowly getting into M7)
finally progressions

Is it really essential to know the other scales like the Aeolian Lydian etc? hope i spelled them right ;D

any additions or subtraction to this would be a big help.
thank you and God Bless!!!

Practice the progressions in your worship songs - try different inversions of the chords and leave the melody out (that's what singers are for). Also try singing w/the songs. Remember, worship is what you do, so make seeking the Lord part of your routine....Blessings

Many times in my practices, I take a song that I've learned and figure out the name of the chords or the numbers of the chords in the "progression scale" so I can learned to play that song in every key, or to play the chords in every key....

Hopefully this can help you somehow,

Excellent idea... ;D This will help you get closer to God, and who doesn't want to do that?
