Thanks in advance for the chords.
-
What do you need?
The song is in E Major with an Esus chord. Apat from the lead licks that about it.
-
So just to elaborate:
Normal E Major
String/Fret
6/0 Thickest
5/2 Open string
4/2
3/1
2/0
1/0 Thinnest
Normal E Major Sus
String/Fret
6/0 Thickest
5/2 Open string
4/2
3/2
2/0
1/0 Thinnest
Oh yes the third chord is F#m7sus played
String/Fret
6/2 Thickest
5/0 Open string
4/2
3/2
2/0
1/0 Thinnest
Now there two versions...
Then there a second part of one version, chords
C#m7 4th position, sound E string
B7 2ND position, sound E string
AM7 0th position, sound E string
G#m7 4th position, do not sound E string
F#m7 2nd position, do not sound E string
-
Oh yes on the F#m7 do not sound the 5th string.
-
Do you need more of the second part?
-
Do you need more of the second part?
Yes please. Thanks.
-
Yes please. Thanks.
OK, just to start again to correct some typos (there is more than one guitar):
So just to elaborate:
E Major
String/Fret
6/0 Thickest
5/2
4/2
3/1
2/0
1/0 Thinnest
E Major Sus
String/Fret
6/0 Thickest
5/2
4/2
3/2
2/0
1/0 Thinnest
F#m7sus
String/Fret
6/2 Thickest
5/- Open string NOT played
4/2
3/2
2/0
1/0 Thinnest
Now there two versions...
The version with the second part:
C#m7 4th position, sound E string
B7 2ND position, sound E string
AM7 0th position, sound E string
G#m7 4th position, do not sound E string
F#7 2nd position, do not sound E string
Then it changest key to Bb minor I think:
The part wherer it goes "you are"...
you - F#7 2nd position, do not sound E string
are - F7 1st position, do not sound E string
Every
thing - Bbm7 1st position,
that I'll
ever - C7#9#5
need - GbM7
Where C7#9#5is
String/Fret
6/2 Thickest Not played
5/3
4/- Not played
3/3
2/4
1/4 Thinnest play this if you like, optional I would leave it out
There is one more bit...
And where GbM7is
String/Fret
6/2 Thickest Not
5/- Not played
4/3
3/3
2/2
1/- Thinnest Not played
-
There is a another section:
You - C7
ooo - GM7
oou - C7
are - Fm7
Then it goes to a previous section.
Hit me back with any better suggestions.
-
Sorry the ooo is Gm7
-
Was that any use?

hate to bring it up again, but standard tab is the thinnest string is at the top, thickest at the bottom. it's important to keep it uniform if we are going to post tabs, so as to not confuse anyone who might need the help.

that open A on the 5 string dosent sound right to me i prefer to play Db on the 5 string...but just my taste

Sounds to me like there are 3 chords in the song; two of them occur over and over and 1 chord occurs just once.

There is an Esus4 variant as well. Just replace the 1 on the G string with a 2.

The second chord after the E major is an F#m chord and the A is the b3. It doesn't sound "right" cuz voicing a chord using the b3 or major 3 is relatively weak.
In any case its all a matter of preference. I like the sound of the open A.
So in short you me and gtrdave all got the right chord, just small differences in voicing.

It's only in the video that I referenced. In the other live video they do not play that chord.
Also, the other video has a close-up of the guitarist playing the E and F#m7 chords.
It's as plain as day.

I'm not arguing the correctness of the chord, i just like the open A sound the way i voice it is all.

Oh, that's fine, but if I was the bass player in your band I'd be yelling at you to stop playing that A note. ;)

Funny enough he liked the chord. Go figure. :)
However i WILL try and use the video's voicing.

Nah man, you use what works for you. ;D
If the bass and the keys (or whatever) are hitting that low F# then all should be good. That A is just a minor third of F#m and shouldn't clash with anything. It's just that when the guitar is playing solo in the intro, that F# should be there.
Again, whatever works for you is what you should do. ;)
