Title: driving 2 leslie cabinets from one power amp
Post by: docjohn on December 15, 2008, 01:09:26 PM
friend of mine was talking about driving 2 147 cabinets from one amp;he replaced the crossover connection with 1/4 plugs.he uses one  with the slow motors of  one cabinet plugged into a power strip and the other one with a kit off the organ.so he has 2 cabinets on slow and one on fast.(think he's too cheap or can't find another amp.Would this vreate problems?

I'm no electronics expert but I would think there's a potential problem with the load on the amp.  The Leslie tube amp is designed to have a 16 ohm load if you stick another driver on there, you will lower that load.  I know this is not usually a problem with solid state amps; not sure about tube amps however.
