I've only listened to the 1st kid so far (Lamonte). He has hands... I just wasn't really feeling him on the latin beat they did. It sounded like a church or r&b drummer playing it. The goal is to sound authentic no matter what the style. That means adjusting the type of licks to match what the music is doing.

Just my 2 cents. I'll listen to the rest later.

You said that so matter-of-factly as if it's law or something lol Maybe he wanted to attempt latin music with a gospel feel.:-\

If it was El Negro attempting gospel we'd all probably be swinging from his drumstick, and calling it "fusion". :D

My bad. I meant to put "Just my 2 cents" after my last post. Oh, wait... I DID!  ;D

El Negro can swing from his own drumstick... cause no matter what, I ain't doin' it. And if I heard El Negro attempting gospel, I'd probably say, "It just doesn't feel right. Like a latin drummer trying to play church music."

Yeah that bass player is killin' too. And that BA guy was strong.

Although I enjoyed the kid on the bass.  I felt the camera man kinda drowned his playing out with all the yelling.

Randy is one of my favorite cats in town.  He's a nasty lefty that can play rightey too.  He's a few years older than I am.  When I was first breaking in, he and another cat from KC thats now in LA named Titus took me under their wings.

Randy is like a big brother to me.

Lamont is fast.

The cat BA is a new one on me.  Haven't seen him around...  But then again, I've been out of town for the past 3 months too..

The bass player is from Muncie Indiana.  He said it in his second clip. He's nice tho.

How you know Randy, D-Nice?  You frat?

whatup Juse!

No sir, not frat. I went to school with Randy at Emporia State univ. I am a couple years older than he is, but we use to shed together...he put me on Dave Weckl, Tony royster, and really opened my ears to other stuff besides gospel. Yesssir nasty lefty/righty, plays keys , and bass!

He moved back to KC and i lost touch with him. But awesome drummer and good mentor to have as far as drums go. I don't knw the other drummers...i was trying to find some footage of Preston Portley, or Andrew Ward (AsapH's brother)..but hard to find on yutube.

I dig it.

Andy is pretty elusive in town as well.  Last I heard of him, he was on tour with a band playing the casino circuit.

Holla at me in PM's if you wanna get in touch with Randy.
