Title: You looked like Buckwheat: High School Reunion

So my wife and I are watching High School Reunion, and this Caucasian dude tells the Black lady, "You looked like Buckwheat." Obviously, she gets upset. She's calling him racist, sexist, and homophobic, but the truth is she did look like Buckwheat!

Is what he said racist? His friend said that, "she may look like it, but you're not supposed to say it."

Exactly, it might not be racist, but definitely not appropriate to say.  Politeness and manners are something most of us learned in grade school, but not all of us, lol!

Oh. I left out the part that he was drunk when he said it--at least to her. He was sober, when he made the observation.
