Ladell Abrams, Calvin Rodgers, Chris Kee,or Spanky? Which one do you think is better? Which one do you think will win in a drum competition? Man I think Ladell could pull it off withs his sick pocket. Man his pocket is just tight, but it would be a hard decision because all 4 of them are cold. So tell me what you think aiight holla!

Well I've heard both LaDell Abrams and Spanky on more than a few occasions and I think Chris Coleman could take them on. Chris has some serioulsly fast hands (ala Billy Cobham) and has some nice techniques with fills to show them. Just pick up that New Breed Live DVD and you'll see some of it.

fortunately i've had the privelage of watchin Chris Kee at rehersal and at service, since John P. Kee's church is here in Charlotte. The guy is rediculas. What he does on the cd's is nuttin like what he does in service.
Every now and again Tony russel shows up and its just krazy.
But... when i first started drumming, i grew up on LaDell Abrams. The man's whole style is sickening. Spanky and Calvin are nice, but when it gets down to just being "raw", you can't help but give it to LaDell.
... don't forget about the man Mavin McQuitty(F. Hammond) though. He's deffinitely up there.

Yo man I gotta agree with you. Have you heard Ladell when he was on the Throne Room tour with Ce Ce Winans. Trust you wouldnt notice hime without his glasses and ball head and he also played with a scarfe on his head so you definately probably wouldnt notice him.

naw i havn't. I havn't seen or heard from LaDell since he did the John Kee "Any Day" cd. Calvin and Christ took over after that.

chris kee has a tiyght pocket on the cds. but i saw him live and that ***** is bananas!!!!!! and of course ladell has been holdin it down since back in the day! yall gotta check him out on that ce ce winans dvd! the whole band is hot and sharay is on bass too. but man calvin is the man! skip the cds, yall gotta hear him live. i heard him hit wit new direction live at a concert in chicago and he was bananas, apples, pears, grapes. he is awesome. very musical, plays wit the band, and when it is time he got some crazy chops. chris coleman is super duper hot, but this forum isnt about him. but hey man calvin is fast too! and thats no lie. but man we all tiygh too man, we just gotta keep practicing, praying, and giging. the right oppurtunity will come around. be blessed!!!!!! :D

I would have to say Calvin Rodgers. This dude can be pocket and then when it's time to stretch, he can SSSSSSSTTTTTTRRRRREEEEETTTTTTTCCCCCCCCCHHHHH!!

The golden stick goes to La Dell ALL DAY LONG, I had the priv of watching this guy live many many times. As a former drummer, some of the stuff he did on the "skins" as he calls them, are other worldy. . .that cat ain't from here. Rodgers and Kee are pretty good but I know Dell taught Kee many of his licks. I also like Calvin Napper, one of J. Kee's earlier drummers. www.calvinnapper.com

Calvin will tear them up...but u have to hear chris coleman...get the isreal new breed dvd...to hear what we are talking about. chris kee sounds to much like calvin he hasnt come into his own yet.

Im Sorry to say Ive seen many drummers ranging from many styles. Ive heard ladell, calvin, chris, spanky, robert seawright, marvin mcquitty, and
chris coleman. All of them are great but when it comes to the overall best calvin rodgers is just nasty! Dont get me wrong ladell is great and ive seen chris kee play and he is awesome too. But along w/ a tight pocket calvin has plenty to back it up w/. This mans creativity and rhythm is just plain out stupid crazy mess and Mo Fitzgerald dosent make it any better. So id have to give it to my favorite inspiration. But I tell you what yall better watch out for spanky I just saw them in concert and man it dont make no sense!!! Calvin Rodgers 4 life

Ladell, Ladell, Ladell......then Chris, Ladell does so many little things you couldn't even catch. Falams!!! 7 stroke rolls, I thik he creates his own rudaments. I went to school in NY with Chris in 99....back then he was praising ladell, Ladell definetly in the top 3 of all times, I really haven't heard to much of Calvin, but I was always appauld with Ladells musciality&ANNOINTING.......Anthony Matthews

Listening to all y'all makes me want to come out... tell the truth, and shame the devil! I've been playing for a while now. I've hear OF some of these guys y'all tlakin bout, but I haven't seen /heard their stuff. Like Calvin... heard OF him, never heard his stuff (forgive me Lawd!) Help a brotha out.... I wanna be daaauwn!!!
