I love Laklands. Got a JO5 and a 55-01. I may try a 55-02 again in the future. I had one briefly but traded it for the JO5.

Is there a significant difference between the rosewood and maple necks (assuming everything else is the same)? Which do you prefer?

It's been said that Maple is brighter in sound. I can't confirm that. I personally love the look of maple on a bass! I also love Ebony necks!

to my ears maple is DEFINITELY brighter. I've done a a/b between a maple neck with a maple board and a maple neck with a pau ferro board and while the pau ferro sounded good, it just didn't have a slap tone like the maple.
But that pau ferro had something VERY special about it. It just soudned down right...RIGHT!
