How in the world do you do the pinky finger thingy if your hands are too short!?

I'm off today with a sinus infection and want to come as close as possible to getting a 24 hour practice session in.

But when I finally find a lesson that answers my EXACT questions about playing in my FAVORITE key, MY PINKY WON'T REACH!  UUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Use inversions and work your left hand more.

In English, please?  LOL!  Do you guys do this only when playing preacher chords and shouting music?  Or, do you play the root note with the pinky finger on every song to "define" what key it's in?

I use the pinky to define to key. If you can't the chord you can invert the chord and have the left hand have more notes if needed.

Like

F / Gb C / Gb C Eb Ab (F being the foot bass note)

if you can't reach the Ab, bring it to the front like

F / Gb C / Gb Ab C Eb and maybe hit the Ab note after the note if you want to make sure the preacher don't lose the key.

I'm about 5'8 or 5'9. i dont consider myself short. Some people do, and some people dont. I know there are a lot of people taller, but there are also a lot of people shorter. I've never had a problem with my pinky though. I dont play a lot of chords in my left hand....come to think of it maybe that's why a lot of musicians are heavy on the left hand hmmmmmmmm??????....they just can reach em on the right

GRRRRRRRRRRREAT OBSERVATION!!!!!!!!!!

But you know what else I noticed?  I am not a "specialist" of left hand chording. In fact, it's what frustrates me the most about playing.  But musicians who chord with both hands seem to play very LOUD!!!!!!!!

But now, I no longer think it's INTENTIONAL!  OMG....did I just admit that out loud!?

___________flatlined___________

I think all those notes being played increases tone depth, which passes itself off to the untrained ear as volume....thus making us say TURN THAT THING DOWN more times than we care to in one service.  LOL!
