Title: I went to my first Quartet Singing....
Post by: MissRiss on May 17, 2009, 07:14:12 PM
on Sat. in Charlotte. The Canton Sprituals, Lee Williams and the QCs, The Gospel Four, and Doc McKenzie were there. I'd only been to contemporary concerts so it was a little different but I had a good time.

What's your favorite quartet group?

I knew the groups wore suits but the Canton Spirituals arrived on stage in bright yellow ones.

Did they sing "I've Learned to Lean"?

When I first heard the song, I imagined this man walking on pews, jumping in mid-air, and sweating profusely.

When I saw the video, all I got was a dude in one spot with no facial expression....KILLING the ad-lib like nobody's business!!!  LOL!!!

And when they sing "Good Time", I forget that I am a traditional choir boy...I turn quartet from my heart to my shoes!!!

In fact, I'm playing for a male chorus this Sunday and "Good Time" is on the list (in Eb of course....cuz I ain't trying to play in D...amen)!

That is hilarious :D   I was thinking the same thing...no facial expression whatsoever.

I like Keith Wonderboy Johnson...He's from NY, but he is a quartet singer..pretty odd. I loved the 12 Days of Christmas song he did, I can hear it now "Fiiiiive songs to sing! 4 mighty missionaries, 3 praying preachers, 2 shoutin shoes and he gave me the victory, victory"  Ahhh I love it :D

I'm not really into quartet music, but I like The Soul Seekers. A couple of the members are married to Mary Mary, but they're legit. They came out with an album like 5 years ago, and my favorite joint was 'Somewhere listening for My Name'

LOL!! I love Lee! I went to one of his concerts. His shoes were on point.
I love the Canton Spirituals and the Gospel Keynotes.

I saw Keith Wonderboy twice in concert too. Loved it!

Have y'all heard Wonderboy's rendition of "Didn't have to do what you did but you did...Lord I thank You....I THANK YOU!!"

That song can take my entire morning from 0 to 500 in seconds!!!!

I can't think of a choir song that does that.

Wonderboy will be at my church on June 5th with Kurt Carr, Lowell Pye, and Crystal Aiken.

I'm mad I'll be out of town that weekend.
