Title: Ed Friedland playing RBX bass
Post by: Torch7 on May 22, 2009, 10:55:08 PM
This bass looks like a toy... but Ed made it sound quite nice.

That is sweet. I'm looking for a lightweight 5string.

It seems that Yamaha is is aggressively going after the "I have a really nice bass, but don't want to take it to every gig for fear of it getting stolen" market. A couple of my acquaintances who own Ken Smiths or Sadowsky's bought one of these basses. They said they play decently and they weren't that concerned that they would be taken in error. "Oh, is that your bass? I'm sorry, it looks just like mine. What's that? You want to know if my bass was monogrammed with my initials, like thatone on the neck? I just so happens i have the same initials! No sir, I am not looking to catch a beat down. Right away sir, i am putting the bass back where i found it. Thank you for letting me leave with my life!"
