I wanted to have someone to come in to do a workshop with our music ministry. There is one who is offering a full 8 hr day or 2 four hour evenings to do a workshop for $600. Does that sound about right?
We'll have around 12-15 singers.

That sounds somewhat fair to me, though I'm sure you can find someone to do it a lot cheaper. But it depends on the popularity of the artist, though even some of the popular ones will do it for a minimal fee.

Yep.
Depends on what region you're in, who the facilitator is (his reputation, accomplishments, career, skill level and knowledge, experience, etc.), and what he's teaching.
In case you didn't do the math, it's $75/hr, if that helps you put it in perspective.

Oh and it also depends on what teaching materials he's using.
I wouldn't pay anybody $75/hr (or even $50/hr) if they didn't have useful, informative, and up-to-date information to disseminate... preferably displayed with modern equipment.
If dude is using presentation equipment (projectors, laptop, etc.) and distributes color-copies or professionally-bound booklets, and things like that... he puts money into his business, and probably deserves to get it back.

I didn't know if that price was from an hourly basis or per head basis. $600 is kinda hard to swallow right now.
Has your group ever did a workshop? If so, how much was it?

PM Wheatworks, BishopCole or TrinaTrine. They all do workshops

Do you know if they're in/near southeast VA region?

Sebastian Wheat is in NY, I went to one of his featuring PJ Morgan.
Trina Trine and Bishop Cole arent from VA, but they do travel together as if I'm not mistaken. I think Bishop Cole is from Alabama and Trina is from Ohio. PM them and see what they say, I'm sure even if you just want to know the going rates they can probably tell you.
