Post by: k_denmark2 on July 09, 2009, 11:40:03 AM
This is from New Direction's CD Release Concert. They are playing "Mild Hysteria" by Dave Weckl in shouting music!

Varo sat down after Calvin and Scooter sat down last.  This video really encouraged me to seek the Lord for more creativity and passion behind the set.  Be Blessed Calvin, Varo and Scooter!!

YEAH!!!!!!  Nice playing on ALL ends.  This is what I love about Calvin......he's different and he INTENDS what he wants to play.  Very Wecklish, Vinnieish and Gavin Harrisonish!!  Love it!!  Hey Calvin, is that the Paul Leim snare?!!!  If so, I found my next purchase LOL!! Love the body and crack of the snare.  Take care and God Bless.

Oh nah, I wasn't ignoring the GospelChops remark! For the record, I have not been invited to GospelChops. Hopefully one day, I'll get an invite, and my schedule will permit to me to d sum'n with Gerald. To end all speculation, I have no grude, dislike or beef with Gerald and GospelChops. I strongly agree that without GospelChops, MD would've never have given the platform to the guys they did at their festival. If we all would support my mans, we wouldn't need that festival!

Well Look a there folks. I think its going down. Calvin Rodgers on Shed Sessions Vol. 3

I would love to see that. Gerald make that happen. Man Calvin whats up with your bands CD. I heard you have a project soon to drop. I just want you to know your approach to drumming is really fresh and exciting in gospel music and any music you play. I really believe its the life and anointing you bring to the kit and your humble attitude off the kit thats makes you so great and lets god keep elevating you to greater plato.....

Thank you for this kind and gracious post. I realize that you didn't have to do it and I also realize that you just crushed the devil's dome. Amen, somebody??? There is no beef here. Those who would try to suggest such a thing simply end up looking foolish.... again.
IMO, Calvin Rodgers is and has been THEE CAT in gospel drumming. Many others have crossed over to secular music while Calvin continues to build his legacy of RECORDED WORKS within the gospel community.
We shall give you your flowers while you can smell them, my brother.

We have not because we.... standby....

God bless 8)

Probaly so....Alot people say Marcus is a beast, but just me personally havent seen it yet. Oh...and check out the Drummers Gone Wild clip on youtube, with him, calvin, and I forget the other. Also he has clips with his jazz ensemble too, so even though Marc Cooper nem like to play with tracks Dave can truly hold it down without em'. Check em out on youtube "Dave Chiverton" ....oh and call me dude 727-386-4566

Oh come on Diligent....I tell you what, the only one I will truly say I enjoyed was the one with the Rain On Us solos. It was pretty tight, great ideas, and showed us a little something different. Although he was just fiddling around. I think maybe if he took on a better approach of drumming, he would be way better than he is. I definately dont like his playing w/ Cepeda McKay. It might not be him even, but probaly the music Cepeda writes....idk. Im going to come check him out again though. I will post the Rain On Us vid of him when I get home.

Well since yall talking bout who yall would like to see in GCSSV3,
i thought i might put my idea in and say i would like to see people that brings different tastes in drumming. Like each one of them have their own type of vibe. like i wouldnt wanna see Spanky and Chris Dave..Eric Moore and Skeeter in the same DVD cuz they are more alike in my ears.

[sidenote] I AM NOT KNOCKING DOWN ANY OF THOSE DRUMMERS! I ENJOY TO WATCH THEM ALL!

Somebody mentioned Calvin R. and Jeremy Haynes and ill add in Spanky cuz those three are amazing and they all bring something different.

then, of course have somebody like Aaron Spears to go over that bar line lol

Just to add some clarity to this thread... The roster for SSV3 has been established and it does not include C-Rod. However, you never know what the future holds.
Additionally, if there are particular musicians that you would like to see on a GC project, I would advise you to seek out those cats and encourage them make themselves available. However, you must note that successful sheds are not made by any individual. Projects of this sort MUST have a certain atmosphere to achieve the goal. Although skill levels may be high individually, every musician is not a good "fit" with every other musician.

God bless ;)
