...The Guitar Center "Drum Off" happens every year unless Guitar Center states otherwise.  Guitar Center Inc. is a company that was originally established for "guitar players."  It is not stupid if they choose to do a Blues, Rock, Jazz, Country or Sesame Street songs guitar contest.  Hence the name of the company.  Drummers are lucky to have a drum contest held there.

...in due time Guitar Center will have the Drum Off page up and ready for any serious participants.  If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact or visit the Guitar Center nearest you.

18 and up? no way unless they changed the rules
last year it was 16 and up
and it is pretty stupid to look for an undiscovered blues guitar player

they should have a narrow category like that, it should be general like just a guitar player.
do you think people would rather listen to the guitar center blues guitarist 09 or the guitar center guitarist 09
plus blues is old school lol

wow the intro was convenient lol
but i could only watch like a minute and a half of that
too slow and unappealing.. its like a guitar solo...but worse

i guess if they want a blues player, theyll get one.
dont know why anyone would want one of those tho lol

...18 yrs. and up from what I've been told.

So, if I'm 72 years-old, I can enter?

Interesting.

...you're young.  I don't expect you to understand a lot of things right now.  Do pay attention to the audience at the sold out Staples Center in L.A.  They payed to see some guitarist/vocalist play some slow and unappealing stupid blues along with other great rock and acoustic guitar music.

...btw JonathanLR, disrespecting blues music, their guitarists and other genres of music will only hinder your growth as a musician, if that's what you aspire to be.

When I was 18, my friends used to come over to my house, and I would turn on the Blue music channel as a joke. It all sounded so ridiculous and depressing.

However, as someone whose experienced their share of heartache and pain, I've found Blues to be very, very, appealing. Blues is 'grown folks music'. Not to say that adult will like it, but it's not a form of music you can just play authentically without having gone through anything in your life.

Playing the Blues note perfect =/= Playing the Blues.

Corrections are in the quoted post above.

You just shut yourself off from learning many. many things with that type of thinking.  I used to not care for blues as a youngster myself.  But I listened anyway and whadduya know, I wound up playing some one day with some serious blues cats.  Just think what would have happened if I had no concept of the blues.  I just so happened to be listening to B.B. King last night, and he has some top-notch musicians on his stuff.  And on a few of them, the drummer was KILLING on the groove!  I've pretty much touched every genre of music there is in my playing from R&B/Soul, gospel, jazz, hip-hop, country, rock, heavy metal, reggae/world/carribean, and even classical.  I took the time to listen to all of it, and it came in handy at the darndest times because I chose to grasp the concept of them and allow them to assist my growth as a musician, and not just a drummer.

But, you just keep waiting on this stupid blues thing to be over.  I hope you win, for real.

Ayo pay attention to ya man JFunky...he knows what he's talking about. A real musician may not like all genres of music but he always respects them and appreciates them...In case you didnt know young bruh...a lot of what we do in church is based on blues scales and progressions, so if you're dissing blues, then you're dissing a lot of forms of church music. So when it's your time to get up on the kit next Sunday, make sure you refuse because "its stupid"...Nah im messin with you dude ;D its nothin but tuff love. I had to learn it to man. All of us on here want you to succeed and do well as a musician, but you'll have a lot more success in anything you try to do if you learn the roots behind what it is, and even tho you may not like it...it's still good to know...just in case, ya dig?!

i understand where your comming from jonathanlr, but its improtant to understand the blues is one of the most improtant foundations of american popular music, which gave birth to so many forms of music we today take for granted.

no but you should at least respect it.

...or at least understand that other people may love what you despise. I can say without hesitation that I do not care for country music, but I understand that country is beloved by millions. The world doesn't revolve around what we prefer, or what we think...
