This week in one of my college courses we were asked to take the personlity test based on the Myers-Briggs personality typology. This is one of the tests from theinternet. I found this very, VERY interesting. Take the test and see what your type is!
Personality Test (http://kisa.ca/personality/)
Below is a good website that explains the personality types in great detail.

ESTJ
Well at least we have at least ONE extrovert in the LGM fam! :D Very interesting indeed, SJon. It says one of the ideal careers for an ESTJ is...TEACHING.
Ta-dah, your personality type is ISTJ!
Introverted (I) 86% Extraverted (E) 14%
Sensing (S) 68% Intuitive (N) 32%
Thinking (T) 65% Feeling (F) 35%
Judging (J) 91% Perceiving (P) 9%
The introverted part is very correct. I'm pretty outgoing at times, but I'm more introverted believe it or not. When no one is talking to me, I am very reserved and sometimes prefer to just be left alone. If there was an LGM event, I might be back in the corner not saying a word, just taking it all in.
This test must be flawed.
:-X

ISTJcosign ;)
Personality test resultsWe're almost alike ;D
Ta-dah, your personality type is INTJ!
Introverted (I) 61% Extraverted (E) 39%
Intuitive (N) 68% Sensing (S) 32%
Thinking (T) 70% Feeling (F) 30%
Judging (J) 50% Perceiving (P) 50%
I'm so glad I took this test. I went back and started reading up on my type. It really does describe me exactly. Thanks Loop for the test. It really blessed me!!! :D

I guess only us introverts feel safe enough to post in this thread!
:D
Part of my personality description is that I don't mind conflict and sometimes like to argue! That CAN'T BE TRUE, can it?? ?/? ;) :D
Introverts of the world, well LGM, unite!!! ;D
Ohhhh nooooo, LOL. :D
:D :D :D
Once I took one of these tests and my result was ENTP, which is intersting because though I can be very extroverted and outgoing at times, I'm really more of an introvert. However when I read the description of the ENTP, this sentence jumped right out at me:
"ENTPs are fluent conversationalists, mentally quick, and enjoy verbal sparring with others. They love to debate issues, and may even switch sides sometimes just for the love of the debate."
Now THAT'S me all day long. :D :D
OMG, that's me too, dude!!! I love debating with smart and reasonable people... and I will DEFINITELY switch sides to keep the excitement going! LOL!I couldn't wait to see yours
My results:
Ta-dah, your personality type is ENFP!
Extraverted (E) 50% Introverted (I) 50%
Intuitive (N) 55% Sensing (S) 45%
Feeling (F) 55% Thinking (T) 45%
Perceiving (P) 55% Judging (J) 45%
Ok, I just read the Myers-Briggs description, and I don't see myself in it at all. I read the Keirsey description, and found it to be a lot more accurate.
In a weird way, though, this test kinda depressed me. I've been trying to figure myself out for years. I'm very analytical and very black and white. Everything in my world has to have an answer or explanation, and has to be reasonable and logical. Everything has to fit into its proper container... these results are so split down the middle that it really doesn't help at all.
I took the Myers-Brigg one at least twice before for jobs, and I don't remember the letters, but I know the results were more definitive. This feels like a computer just took a wild guess with me. :D :-\ :-[ :(
Everything has to fit into its proper container... these results are so split down the middle that it really doesn't help at all.
Maybe that's it. Maybe you're both?
Ok, so I just looked my description up on that second link Loop posted, and I feel much better. LOL!
That one describes me fairly well, with a few nuances.
Also, I meant to highlight this line from the Keirsey explanation of a ENFP:
With a dramatic flair, they share their experiences with others, hoping to reveal some universal truth or win others over in support of a cause.
Now come on, y'all... you KNOW that's totally me! LOL!!! Though you probably never realized it (unless you know me offline), that underlined part is especially true of me... I'm always trying to collect data to come to some universal truth so I can put it in a box and move on to the next subject... :-\
People think I'm extraverted because I'm outspoken and assertive, but I'm very anti-social and very uncomfortable in group settings. I hate being in the spotlight (whether for something good, bad, or neutral). At the same time, I am very friendly and I work very hard at being outgoing and making people comfortable when they're in my presence.
But, how many people are both introverted AND extraverted at the same time? What kind of an anomaly is that???
I wonder how they choose one over the other when it's 50-50.
LOL! Wow. You and Bishop2 are the exact same type! I can definitely agree with that! :D
Ever since I got that ENTP result, I 've been looking at different descriptions on the internet, and that one definitely describes me! The original ISTP result just didn't seem to quite fit. I'm probably like you, LaRue: 50/50 Introvert/Extrovert because though I can be the "life of the party" and can be VERY outgoing at times and don't mind being in a crowd, I'm perfectly fine with being alone and sometimes don't want to be bothered with the folks! Also sometimes in group settings, I'm the one that's quiet and not saying much, doing more listening than talking.
Also, aside from the love of arguing/debating, this sentence really jumped out at me as well:
"ENTPs have little patience with those they consider wrongheaded or unintelligent, and show little restraint in demonstrating this."
OMG that is SO me! All day long! Also this:
"ENTPs are basically optimists, but in spite of this (perhaps because of it?), they tend to become extremely petulant about small setbacks and inconveniences. (Major setbacks they tend to regard as challenges, and tackle with determination.)"
This is so true as well. Any time a major setback comes, though I get kinda stressed, I'm usually the one remaining calm and viewing it as just a "bump in the road" that I'll get over, and I ALWAYS think I'll come out on top, and I usually do! :D
And this:
"They tend to have a perverse sense of humor as well, and enjoy playing devil's advocate. They sometimes confuse, even inadvertently hurt, those who don't understand or accept the concept of argument as a sport."
OMG! How many times right here on LGM has someone gotten a little offended with me because they think I'm berating them with my arguments, and they think I'm mad and trying to insult them because I can get pretty passionate with my arguments! That is TOO funny! :D :D And I'm ALWAYS playing the devil's advocate! Also, at times my sense of humor tends to sometimes be biting, sarcastic and sometimes "wry". My friends accuse me of having a "slick mouth" because of some of the one-liners I have uttered! :D
Finally:
"They highly value knowledge, and spend much of their lives seeking a higher understanding."
That is SOOOOO true, and it's one of the reasons I decided to pursue a career as a teacher!
This is all too interesting to me, which is another trait. I'm very interested in who I am. ;)
I'm kinda jealous. :-\ Seriously, though. And I can definitely agree with Bishop2 and I having the same type, especially in light of the "break down." He's farrrrr more extraverted than I (I think he had a 93/7% split), but other than that, we tend to think and behave a lot alike.
I wub my brudda!!!!
I don't recall seeing anything on my profile about what kinds of careers I should (have) pursue(d). I did read something about changing careers often, which is not completely untrue. For many years, I've been trying to decide whether I want to go to law school or get an MBA in HR. Recently, I added a third option to the mix (M.Div.), which just made it even worse. :-\
I can see myself now... 70 years old, still trying to decide what I want to be when I grow up... lol.
I didn't see nothing on there about being a teacher, but that's what I'm getting a degree in right now. Maybe I'm pursuing the wrong career and shouldn't have switched from accounting? Who knows. :-\
The best thing about mine is that whoever I decide to marry will be well taken care of. She won't have to worry about nothing!!! ;) :D
I took this test in high school and last year
I'm an INFJ.
In real life I make people close to me read about my personality type.
I've seen a few INFJ's on here
That's interesting. Here's a list of some of the possible career paths for INFJ's:
Clergy / Religious Work
Teachers
Medical Doctors / Dentists
Alternative Health Care Practitioners, i.e. Chiropractor, Reflexologist
Psychologists
Psychiatrists
Counselors and Social Workers
Musicians and Artists
Photographers
Child Care / Early Childhood Development
Interesting indeed.
my life-long dream was to become a television news reporter. The only reason I didn't pursue that career path was that I thought you had to be pretty and I didn't think I was pretty enough.

1. You're not about to embarass me two days in a row, 'kay buddy? :D
2. Nah, I'm not kidding. But thanks for the compliment. Now that I'm older (and a little wiser), I'm realizing there are lots of "Ugly Bettys" out there doing the news. But it's too late to pursue that path now, so I'll just keep trekking along this here path... LOL
I have taken this test 4 times in my lifetime and get the same result each time:
ESTJ
Extraverted (E) 68% Introverted (I) 32%
Sensing (S) 73% Intuitive (N) 27%
Thinking (T) 75% Feeling (F) 25%
Judging (J) 73% Perceiving (P) 27%
Ta-dah, your personality type is ESTP!The percentages make all the difference because for the most part they put you right down the middle of the road, pretty much.
Extraverted (E) 50% Introverted (I) 50%
Sensing (S) 50% Intuitive (N) 50%
Thinking (T) 55% Feeling (F) 45%
Perceiving (P) 64% Judging (J) 36%
That's what mine did, too. I was 50/50 or 45/55 on about everything. :-\
Mine stood out on all levels. :D
Here are my results:
ISFJ!
Introverted (I) 86% Extraverted (E) 14%
Sensing (S) 55% Intuitive (N) 45%
Feeling (F) 70% Thinking (T) 30%
Judging (J) 77% Perceiving (P) 23%
Tradtionally I have been ISTJ so there's not really a big difference.
Ta-dah, your personality type is INFJ!
Introverted (I) 71% Extraverted (E) 29%
Intuitive (N) 77% Sensing (S) 23%

I think my Introverted/Extraverted percentages would be more near the 50/50 mark now, probably still leaning towards Introverted.
INTJ

ISTP
is that your old one or did you take the test again?
Can't tell as I never remembered the letters (as I stated two years ago).

ESTJ
I did a search of ESTP to try to see who/if anyone else on LGM was an ESTP and I found this post of yours from 2007. :)
One of a kind
Dude, your rapid movement toward introversion is scaring me. At this rate, you'll be a hermit in 6 months!! :o :-[
:D :D :D
Possible Career Paths for the INFP:
Writers
Counselors / Social Workers
Teachers / Professors
Psychologists
Psychiatrists
Musicians
Clergy / Religious Workers
I noticed that!
I think I answered the questions more honestly this time. OAN...
Go figure. :D
I have taken this test 4 times in my lifetime and get the same result each time:

I am an introvert. And I've come to terms with that. No more trying to change to appease the extroverts.

Just read the analysis & it was spot on. My wife was listening while I read it & she almost aggravated me with her multiple AMEN's and MMMM-MMMM's.
kingrhollo. May I call you that? kingrhollo? Good.
kingrhollo, this is a safe place. You can talk to us. She did aggravate you didn't she? Wives do that sometimes. It's okay, we won't tell. Really.

For the record, she didn't 'aggravate' you, she 'irritated' you.

ag·gra·vate (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/aggravate)
To rouse to displeasure or anger by usually persistent and often petty goading.
Seems to fit to me.
That's the INFORMAL definition (meaning people have screwed it up so much that it's easily confused). The standard definition of aggravate means to make a problem, injury, or offense worse. You can aggravate a situation. You can't be aggravated. Trust me, I've had this rule hammered over my head in writing class enough to know.
It's like 'anyway' and 'anyways'. One of them is not a word (hint: the one with the most letters), yet it's frequently used, thus accepted. But it's still wrong.
I mean, no one (except me) is going to stone you for using it in casual conversation, but try slapping it in a professional publication for the New York Times or something, and you're going to get a slap on the hand.
As always, the persistent misuse of a word has made it become acceptable. It's in the dictionary now...

Not in this thread apparently. :D :D :D
Anyways ( :P), The King was absolutely aggravated according to the dictionary's definition of the word.
Unless the dictionary is wrong.
Unless the dictionary is wrong.
It is.O rly?
Sharp Shooter Rule #421
If there's every a discrepancy between the dictionary and the sharp shooter, the sharp shooter is right.
