Okay, so it's nothing custom made, but I'm excited that I have it, and I figured I'd share. It's a Schecter Stiletto Studio-5, with the EMG-HZ pups. I got it in a trade from a fellow believer on talkbass.com. I traded my upgraded Squier Deluxe Active Jazz V for it. The two basses do very different things, and we were both looking for what each other had lol! Anyways, here's a few pics of it, it is really pretty (hopefully this works, the last time I tried to do something special in my post it didn't work, and I got a really big FAIL post from another member LOL!!):

Anybody own/ever played one?

One of my friends has one. I ended up playing it for a couple of songs at our state meeting because when we tried to switch out basses from the DI we almost blew the house up. (forgot to turn off the amp) ::) Anyways I actually liked it which was a surprise to me because most basses I've played with HZ's in them sounded kind of bland. Check out the tracks on this page http://erakasasser.com/sw.html (http://erakasasser.com/sw.html) all the bass was on a studio-5.

I have one and I absolutely love it. I agree with you that it is a decidedly different sound from the Fender/Squier line, which is why I kept my Jazz V even though I bought the Schecter.

Seeing as how this has apparently become the National Bass of LGM, I had to go to Guitar Center and play one. Me like! Not enough to replace anything I already own (the sound you just heard was my wife exhaling), but it was a really nice playing and sounding bass at a VERY reasonable price. Looks darn good, too.
If I hadn't already had more 5-string basses than I really need, I might have left with one.
-
they're pretty decent. i have the custom 5 with an upgraded pre-amp. the biggest gripe from people are that the EMG pickups can be a bit thin sounding and the string spacing is tight (a real adjustment from a bass with similar string spacing as a fender). i put mine to the side for a while, but i decided to change the strings, and i got new life out of it.

Lol, I didn't know that a lot of people on LGM had one!! I actually don't mind the string spacing, even for slapping (coming from the guy whose last two main axes were Ibby's). My Squier was/is killer, especially with the Aggie preamp, but the overall tone was something I could get with my BTB 6 string, with an upgraded Bart preamp. The Schecter provides a good counterpoint to my BTB, and I am a fan of the hi-fi type modern bass sound it provides...
Malthumb...are you the same malthumb on TalkBass.com?? If you are, this is weird. I think you traded/sold a bass to heb9_29 recently on TB, and he's the same person I traded my Squier with for the Schecter...small world!!
P.S. Can anyone teach me how to insert pictures in my posts??
God Bless

I put spaces in the brackets with img and /img to keep the system from thinking I was posting a picture.
The picture has to exist somewhere on the internet and have an url in order to be used. You can save pictures to the internet by subscribing to a picture hosting site (I use photobucket.com)

I'm sure you're gonna love that bass. I have the Schecter Elite 5. I've modded it by adding bart pickups and the obp-3 preamp to the bass. It's night and day compared to the EMG electronics. I'm about to add series/parrellel switching just to add more tonal capabilities to the bass.

You know, I actually like the EMG's a lot; this is my first bass with an EMG setup. It's probably because my Squier had the exact setup you have in your Elite 5, and while I loved how it sounded, I kinda wanted something brighter while still giving me the low end. Plus, my BTB will have the exact same setup by early next week (upgrading the pre wth the OPB-3 as well). Coming through my Peavey Tour 700 and two Harkte 410's, the Studio sounds monstrous. I don't want to ramble, but even the non=-usicians at church tonight were telling me that they liked how my new bass sounds. I am completely in love right now.
Whoa, it's late, I will post pics tomorrow. Good Night!!!

Congrats on your purchase! Enjoy your new instrument and may God be glorified through your playing.

I've never played a Schecter but it seems lots of Gospel players love them. I've never heard anything bad about them. Congrats! And make a joyful noise (with minimal runs of course)! Sorry! I had to throw that in there! :)

I am sure I don't play my Schecter with the same "run fluency" as my LGM brothers and sisters, but I love it nonetheless.

Yes, a textbook definition from Musician's Guide to Medical Terminology (173rd ed.). The infected exhibit a variety of symptoms:
* Visiting the local music store every Monday-Thursday
* Signing up for every sweepstakes and giveaway contest online (Musicians Friend, Sam Ash, Guitar Center, other variuos websites)
* An obsessive complusive desire to troll websites for deals and trades, even when the last of the infected's paycheck is spent (on accessories, strings, amps, effects pedals, speaker cabinets, etc.)
* The unusual tendency to subscribe to online newsletters and magazines that highlight the latest products, although the infected knows that his/her inbox will be flooded with solicitations from spam emailers.
While research continues on this plague amongst musicians, unfortunately, there are no known cures....
;D

Staple a copy of your credit report to your credit card. Better than Pepto Bismal.

Hilarious. If I stapled my credit report to my credit card, my wallet would be depressed...I would never spend ANY money lol!

I know I'm late to the party, but congrats on the new bass! Schecters are VERY solid basses, I was pleasantly surprised how tight it was when I tried one @ GC.
