Side Note: Did you see the 'Two Man Shout' at 1:12?? :) :) :D :D

I'll give you the melody line and the chord progressions. I want you to learn the theory behind the chords. Here we go, the melody line follows the C harmonic
minor scale...................B,.........C,......... D,................ Eb,........G,.......... F..................D,........Eb
chord progressions......G major, C minor, D diminished, C minor, Eb 6......F major....... Bb 7th, Eb major
bass...........................G....... .......Eb........D................C.... .......Bb...........A.................. Ab........G.
Now that's your lesson, I could give you the exact chords and the position but then that wouldn't fair as a teacher to help you with your lesson :)
The chords are of course inverted, that's where your ear training comes in. The melody line will always be the highest note. Stay in the middle of the keyboard and you'll hear the opening chords they're using.
The runs are a different story and require you have lighting fast hands. Post a video of you playing this much and we'll see about the runs.

Nice Sam, thanks

Thanks Sam.
A very good lesson indeed.
Can we start a game here like this- where we are given the melody & the chord, then we have to figure them out.
As we get advanced, we will only be given the melody, then we have to name the chords that are being played and even give the voicing if necessary... :)
-
Why not, it's a good way to discover chord placement around a melody line.
-
Any takers out there?
Please post the songs you've always wanted to learn but couldn't get around them.
Please, Mr Tolbert has availed himself!!!
This will be so fun & your skills get sharpened so quickly you'll never want to stop the game!

Hi Sam---
I don’t really know what I’m doing---but, I wanted you to know that I am trying to do something and not just ignoring what you’ve given me:
ON TIME GOD Eb
C-Eb--- Eb/GBbEb---He’s an on time God----
/AbCEb----Yes he
Eb/GBbEb----is
Eb-F------- C/CEbG---On time God----Eb-F ---Yes he is—C/CEbG
G---Bb---- Eb/EbGBb----He may not come when you want him---
Eb-F—But he’ll--- C/CEbG—be right there---F—on--- Ab/AbCEb--time
Eb- F—He’s an--- Bb/BbEbG---on time --Ab/AbCEb-- God-
Bb/AbCEb---Yes he----
Eb/GBbEb---is
So, Sam, this is what I came up with---pretty basic—I know---and probably pretty wrong! As you can see, I need help!

How can you even be sorry LilFingers- you needn't be- this is the essence of this site ;) :)
Otherwise people would be very scared to even ask and the site wouldn't help the hundreds of thousands it is helping from the questions you and I ask.
I look forward to seeing more of your posts. Your people will help many people out there in many different ways. :)
