Hi guys!! I need some new songs for our praise team. I'm tired of singing the same old songs! What are you singing at your church? Song title and artist would be appreciated!
We typically do songs like Lord you are good/We worship you; Lord you are awesome; Judy McAllister; old school (Livin' He loved me); You are holy; We have come into this house to gather in His name; etc.
Just want to do something different in 2010...
-
How many people on your team?
-
We have six (2 sopranos, 2 tenors, 2 altos)

My praise and worship team covers a lot of material ranging from country, reggae, reggaeton, jewish worship, pretty much a wide variety of praise and worship music. 3 sopranos, 3 alto sopranos, 3 altos, 2 tenors. The band consist of the rhythm section, Bass, guitar, me (percussion, 2nd drummer) then keys and organ, the brass trumpet, 2 saxes, trombone. Some of our best work comes from judith McCalester: Like the Dew, Donnie McClurkin, Fred Hammond, J Moss: we must praise, Alabaster jar, i call you faithful, days of elijah, ron kenoly

I know I'm kinda late but our praise team has four people and we do a little bit of everything:
nobody greater than you- Kevin lemons???
You're the god of my strength- Darrel harris and integrity
chasing after you- off of paul morton's cry your last tears
Everything to me-Tye
Let us worship-tye
I trust you- James fortune
Moving forward- off of hezie's souled out
How great is our god- johnathon nelson
even with only four people we get a lot accomplished, everyone has their own mic (which helps a lot). All of our singers sing in quartet groups so they pretty much can hold their own even if they were alone (another big help). We have a keyboardist, a bass player, drummer, and 2 guitar players.
I figured out it's all about doing our best to give God our best.
And for those who are possibly wondering, I'm one of the assistant pastor's and I kinda oversee the whole music department at our church (M.O.M.), but actually my wife is head of the praise team (I'm one of the guitar players for them) , and my sister is head of the children's choir, I'm over the choir, but we all work one with another to make sure things go smoothly.
Disclaimer.......... Just trying to paint a good picture of working together no bragging intended.

We use tracks.
Hi - where are some places online where I can download Gospel background tracks? ntimemusic, iTunes, etc???
What are some good producers of these - and, more importantly, the LAME ones that I should avoid?

For us, we use either ntimemusic.com or daywind.com. I was also told about christwill.com. All three seem to overlap for the most part, though. :-\
As for good vs lame, it be a crapshoot, unfortunately. You can't preview an entire song to really know if you want to use it. But, I will say that we've been pleased more often than disappointed.
-
Thanks - Background tracks (or 'loops') are not our first choice but we have lost some people and our Pastor wants a backup just in case. He got the idea seeing us use (homegrown) tracks w/the childrens' choir...

How did you create your homegrown tracks?
I use Logic Express on the Mac. I am just learning it, so the tracks are rather rough, not professional quality, but rhythmic enough for people to follow. It's labor-intensive; I have been playing parts in, then tweaking and quantizing, but lately have tried adapting some midis I have found on the Net.
Logic Express' sounds are good but not as many as the full version of the program...

Hello!
Have our song lists changed much in this new year of 2011? This thread was last posted to in 2010. I recently spoke with a musician who was looking for non-Hillsong/C. Tomlin material. Comments?
