I need help. My wife is getting her RN pinned in two weeks and I'm trying to put together a congratulations gift. I would like to get some things that she will be able to use once she starts working or just related to nursing. Aside from smocks, scrubs, and a stethescope, what can I include in a gift basket? Or if theres any other gift that you would recommend (materials, books, medical supplies, etc) Im open. Thanks!

Congrats to Mrs. BBG!!! That's awesome!
If you don't get answers here, I'll ask my sister, who is an RN.

Ill ask my sis too who's an LPN pursuing to be an RN...

congrats, buy her a GOOD steth, not the cheap plastic $20 I see most nurses+ docs use;one with dual tubes and NOT the cheapo plastic

My niece, who is an RN, suggested the following: a gift certificate to a place that sells scrubs, equipment etc.; some good lotion and maybe a book like Chicken Soup for the Nurse's Soul. Happy shopping! :)

Thank you all for your suggestions. Im definitely taking notes!

I haven't asked my sister yet, but LadyWiz's post made me think of a gift certificate to a day spa. That's always a great gift, especially for people who do physical work.
I bet she'd appreciate even MORE if you typed up or hand-wrote a certificate for a foot-rub or back-rub or shoulder-rub FROM HER HUBBY! :) It's cheaper and certain to make her smile.

I'm not an RN, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night...

WAIT... you have to buy your own steth? I always thought it came with the job, lol.

LOL, I really want my doctor to hear jack... Wow. I would think all doctors/nurses should have one that allows them to hear clearly...

I do that all the time anyway so that wouldnt be surprising lol. I do like the gift certificate idea though. I was at the store last night, and there are alot of things for nurses. They even have a Grey's Anatomy and Baby Phat line of scrubs lol.

True. I dropped the loot early for one (about 80 bucks), but I may see if I can get her name put on it or something.
