Title: Smart dust to monitor earth...
Post by: Gibby on May 03, 2010, 12:19:23 PM
I'm trying not to be a "CNN Thread Starter", but this kinda caught me eye.

This (http://www.cnn.com/2010/TECH/05/03/smart.dust.sensors/index.html?hpt=C2) is saying that these small sensors will be able to detect earthquakes, determine how well a certain ecosystem is doing and so on...

If I were a conspiracy theorist, I would say it's to invade our privacy...

So what if this "smart dust" becomes self-aware and merge together to form replicators

...bent on exterminating us!

It worked for me, Uey.

It's the second "this":

I don't see a problem with the smart dust monitoring for earthquakes.

"[It] would monitor everything." To me, it seems this system can violate people's privacy. I don't think many people will notice if they are being monitored. This is creepy, and it reminds me of Big Brother in 1984.
