Title: why does U tube ?
Post by: docjohn on June 27, 2010, 03:32:20 PM
sound so good(if it's done right)? I notice ,if you listen with headphones-it sounds BIGGG. I was playing around and ran a stereo split off my i Mac to my mixer/taped deck.Only one side showed an audio track. So,I assume it's a wav or mp3/mp4  Aiff track.Just experimented to see if it would record anything to tape.

what's the skinny?

Maybe its your cord or the video you were listening to was in mono

I don't think it was a cord issue,I have 2 stereo splitters + tried both, and I tried one of my stereo "in s' to my mixer and on 2 seperate "in s" and several  U-tubes;making sure to select "best sound" stereo.

Should I be able to get a stereo audio from u tube?

the "dumb" question is the unasked one!!!  U-tube is a place to post vids, etc.Google it-some good, some bad-type in Gospel Hammond when search comes up.

Ok cool that's what I was thinking just wanted to be sure.

Most vids on youtube are stereo. Every now and then I see a video that is only one channel. If you are getting sound thru both sides of a stereo headset then you should be getting a L and R on a recording. The video might not be in true stereo it should still register on both sides of any stereo device. I have seen vids that are one channel in a lower resolution but stereo in a higher res.

As far as the format all of the videos I've downloaded off youtube have been in FLV. I think they allow you to download in a MP4 format straight from youtube but i've never used it.
