Ive heard so many meanings of this, and i want to know how i can achieve that pocket playing. can you guys tell me what it is and how to achieve it?

Pocket playing is when you just keep it simple or plain. That means to leave all of the doubles and rolls out of a song and just play the regular beat with just bass, a few cymbals, hihat, and snare. Pocket playing is mostly found in jazz gigs,r&b, and some gospel. The only time you can basically come out of the pocket is when the MD tells you to or when the groove is set right. Aiight Holla!!!
