This kid named Eric "boody" Green is a really solid player. He has the philly funk and gospel thing happening. This kid is far more diverse than Spanky and Eric Tribett. Spanky and Eric Tribett are good drummers, but they are not as diverse as Eric Green. I am not saying that he is better, he can just play more stuff. One thing you have to understand about the Music Industry is that as an artist grows, so does requirments to play the music. Jill Scott has some stuff that requires you to know more than Gospel and Neo Soul grooves. I saw her do a performance recently with an upright bass player and the drum parts included brushes. If you can not do the jazz thing, that is not the gig for you. Some cats can not give you what you want in every style.
So, the moral of my letter is this: The more diverse you are, the more in demand you will be. Learn more than Gospel.
