Post by: The Dude on October 26, 2010, 12:19:57 AM
I ordered this book the day it was reffered to me and I'm on the first page and can't help but be excited about how much this will help, I've practiced the first page and plan to spend a week on it. This is some rich workouts. Rebuilding my foundation!

This book is like an alphabet. Even if you manage to get through the whole book I know drummers who used just the first page for 15(!) years of everyday practice. There are so many ways to use the book to develop hands, feet, overall coordination. You can put your kick between every note, you can combine 2 or more different patters for your hands and feet separately, you can write just random accents for each pattern, play this pattern not horizontally( i.e. between your hands) but vertically. You can play right hand swing, left foot clave(or straight i`s, ands or e`s) and go through all the patterns but R for your right foot and L for your left hand, than the same but with accents. Really, your imagination is the limit. Congrats on buying the book, the investment worth it.

...absolutely man.  Its crazy how many of the books today really go back to Stick Control.  Stick Control is like the 10 Commandments of drumming. LOL

For it to still be relevant after 75 years is proof enough for me that it's the real deal.

Cosign...just the first page is nearly limitless.  If this doesn't bust your head wide open you should probably think about another instrument, like a piccolo or something.

I don't understand why people say to stop playing when your arms start to tense up. That happens everytime to me, it dosnt take much to do it, I felt like I was building muscle
