LOL, might as well... course, I talk so much as it is, I've probably left nothing to ask... HA!

1. What's the biggest life lesson you've learned so far?
2. What does LGM mean to you?
3. Who are your mentors?
-
1. You are multi-talented and gifted (writer, speaker, graphic artist, musician, compassion, etc.). Ten years from now, do you see yourself working in the same capacity as you are today, or do you expect to be in a different career?
2. When/how did you receive the Holy Ghost?
-
1. I think the biggest life lesson was something I knew as a child and forgot and had to relearn and that's this:
All people are treasures, the ones that charm you, the ones that anger you, and the ones that you don't want anything to do with. Large, small, skinny, fat, dark, light... if you look for it, you will find a priceless treasure in every single one of them. So one of life's biggest challenges is to find that treasure. Sometimes the reason you are in someone's life is to help them find it, because they don't know they have one (are one), and they live like it.
Gotta work, but I'll get to the rest later.

2. What does LGM mean to you? LGM to me, is like-minded young people with whom I can have discussions and learn new ideas or perspectives. When you live in an area that is not very saturated with people who believe like I believe or come from the experience that I come from, you tend to think that you're the odd man out, lol. But when I come here, it's like a place where a young person can present an idea, and receive feedback that allows them to hone the idea and make it better. It's also a fluff-trimmer, lol. You won't survive long in here being pretentious or quoting what your momma'nem said, you gotta come wit' it! That challenges me to know the reasons behind why I believe what I believe and why I do the things I do. Lastly, it's a family; a bunch of people that I love hanging out with, laughing with, crying with, praying with... a family.
3. Who are your mentors? Hmm... I'm kinda like Teej, my greatest mentors teach me through what they've written, sometimes many years ago. But I also have had the privilege to sit at the feet of some mighty women of God including my current and former first ladies. My bishop also... he's someone I can call or just drop into his office, and talk about things that are important to me. He gives me good advice and more importantly prays with me. When he was in the hospital, I'd go to visit him, and he'd flip the script and minister to me, lol. My older sister Val, and my dad (we're not that close, but everything I know about serving God started with him), my friend Cookie, who is like an older sister. Evangelist Sonya Cheltenham, she's a friend of our church who actually lives in Vegas, but I have learned a lot by observing her ministry. I'm sure there are more, but that's a pretty good list.

2. When/how did you receive the Holy Ghost?
1. I def see myself elsewhere in ten years. My passion is writing and maybe music to a lesser extent. If I could dedicate my full days to seeking God and writing, that would be ideal. Graphic arts is a hobby that I like to do, and I imagine it will be instrumental in helping me market my writing. My weakness is promoting, marketing, and dealing with the ugly side of getting there and maintaining an income doing it.
-
Oh I forgot 2!
That's a funny story. I think I can identify with Teej as far as God's hand being on me my entire life. I was never like other kids, and always had a love for being around the true saints (once I graduated h.s. i'd get up and go to prayer with the women of the church, hang out with my godmother (another mentor) because there was something about those praying saints, that drew me). Somewhere along the line I had to differentiate between people and God. I found myself being drawn to the God in them, but then trying to please them instead of God, because I didn't know him for myself.
Anyway, I began praying and reading my word on my own, and asking God to save me and fill me. I began to put away things in my life that didn't glorify God. One night at 22 years old, I went to a revival, and they were asking people to come to the altar to be filled. I went to the altar and left disappointed. I received instruction on sanctification and I was so eager to experience the baptism of the Holy Ghost, that I took the next day off and just studied what the bible said about the Holy Ghost and prayed and fasted. When the altar call was made that night, I went, but my mind wasn't on people and what they were saying in my ear (UGH)... I cried out to GOD. That night I spoke with other tongues... but... fast forward to Reno in the year 2001...
I moved here and joined my church and before long I was deeply involved in ministry. For a PK, it doesn't take long, you know what to do and if you see it needs to be done, you hop to it. My pastor and church family helped to draw me out of my shell, because I was a very shy and nervous person, and I was easily embarrassed. My Pastor's Wife is a prayer warrior and had shutins all the time. I would go and be amongst the prayer warriors but was still quite shy. When I got a key to the church, I started going on my own and just seeking God. I had a roomate that was at times unbearable, and so I would retreat to the church sometimes all night long. One night leaving the church I got in my car and drove around the corner to where I was staying and as I pulled in the carport, the spirit of God was so strong and I just began worshipping and speaking in tongues like I had never done before. It was stronger than the first time and it seemed like it would just keep coming forever!
The Holy Ghost has made his presence in my life known since then by speaking to my heart things I would not know otherwise and then confirming what he said. I feel his guidance every day (correction, assurance, warning). I don't always get it right, and sometimes I do the wrong thing and know it was the wrong thing, but I thank God for his spirit!
-
If you could change one thing about the church as a whole...what would you change?
Wow, that's heavy. If I could just wave a magic wand, I wouldn't allow the church as a whole to follow anything that is not God's will for the church. There are so many grey areas, and so much political influence... I would simply stop it from being possible to do anything but what God wants. We'd know clearly what was and wasn't God because the "not God" stuff would fall flat instantly, lol.
If you were called to Pastor and start a new church...what would you name your church?
I'm not called to Pastor, but Pastor's Wife has been spoken more times than I'd like to recall... whatever God does, I'm with him for the duration. That said, haven't put much thought into naming a church, but I think it'd be something like Great Commission Church, lol. Or some greek word related to that, so whenever we mention the name we would also be rehearsing our primary focus.

**Stands up nervously and begins reading cue card** Nessa, What is your motivation? What drives you to be who you are and do what you do? **Looks around nervously, then sits down**
:D
Why in the world are you nervous? LOL! Honestly, it has to be passion, because outside of things I'm really passionate about, I have absolutely NO drive! LOL! I'm working on motivating myself to do the necessary intermediate things that are necessary in order for me to pursue my passion... you know, the boring stuff. That's a big weakness for me.
-
So Nessa, when are you gonna post a video of you killin tha set?
Er uh... that would be never. I'm on the organ most of the time anyway nowadays, and it'll be a while before I kill anything on either... LOL! But God can do anything, so you never know, lol.
-
What is your favorite meal?
What is your favorite drink?
How would you like it served?
This one is interesting.
My favorite meal is oxtail stew (it was a fight between that and gumbo, oxtails win today).
My favorite drink is Pepsi (it's hypothetical so it's not gonna hurt nothin' lol).
I'd like it served in a relaxing dimly lit elegant room with a fireplace, the oxtail stew in a red sauce over rice, the pepsi ice cold and strong (from the fountain) with a shot of cherry flavoring (what's it called? grenadine?) I'd either like to be accompanied by an intelligent gentleman suitor with similar interests, or all of my cousins and friends that I like to laugh with (we can turn the lights back up, lol). But mainly I wanna relax and enjoy. Peach Cobbler or banana pudding for dessert.

What is your ultimate aspiration?
Have you ever considered writing a book?
-
What is your ultimate aspiration?
Have you ever considered writing a book?
My ultimate aspiration... hmm... I desire to write and teach in that order. I'd like to travel and conduct classes/seminars to pour into people and get them excited about the kingdom! Basically, I could write and then travel and teach on the subject matter that I've written about.
Yes, I have and am currently contemplating writing a book. I think it's coming together in isolated thoughts and writings that are tying in to one another to form a larger project. We'll see. Please pray for me on that one.

So Nessa, when are you gonna post a video of you killin tha set?

At what age did you decide you were awesome?
What incident made you come to that conclusion?
-
You still playing drums? :)
-
Do you believe prophets have become less and less apt to prophesy warnings and rebuke than they are about seasons and harvest? I know thats funny coming from me, so after you laugh, lets be serious LOL.
-

I don't think I'm awesome. Only God is awesome, but hangin' out with him, now and then I see some awesome stuff happen, lol!
-

Yes, but most of the time I have to play the organ.

I believe there are still prophets who prophesy warning and rebuke, unfortunately people don't flock to hear them. They're to busy chasing after the ones who are talking about seasons and harvests, lol! So they can fall out on the floor and get up and be as nasty, evil, selfish, and in love with sin as they've always been. The real prophet makes'em uncomfortable about that stuff, so they don't like them.

What molded you into the beautiful person you are?
-
What's the wisest lesson you've ever been taught?
What is your best LGM memory?
The wisest... wow.
I think the wisest thing I can think of right now (it's hard to nail down just one) would have to be listen to wisdom and experience. Take time to hear older people who've been down the road you're trying to travel, especially godly people. Sometimes we young folk think we have it all and are on the cutting edge of what's going on and the older folk may appear clueless, but if we take the time to listen, they have a whole lot to impart, and can help us to avoid many pitfalls.
Another one I learned from my former first lady. No matter how things fall apart and don't go as planned, keep your trust and belief in the Sovereign God who works all things together for good to those who love him, and are the called according to his purpose. Hold your head up and smile, people you wouldn't even suspect are looking to you for strength, and if you panic or give up, they will do the same. In any venture or undertaking, there will be moments to shake your faith, but don't let them see you sweat, your Father has it all under control, so act like it.
Best LGM memory... that's about as difficult as the previous one. I'm real sleepy right now, so I can't nail down just one, but I know that it'd have to be an instance where I laughed real hard, because I LOVE to laugh. Actually, I really enjoyed bible studies, too. Teaching made me nervous, because one thing LGMers are is really knowledgeable in the word, and really serious about the meat of the word. Iron sharpens iron. I gained so much from that fellowship...What molded you into the beautiful person you are?
Wow, Cord... thank you.
I don't know if LGM will believe this but I was actually a very shy person as a youngster. I had a lot of issues with my self image and didn't really have confidence to do anything in front of people. I think God gave me the personality of my birth mother (RIP) and moving to Reno brought it out. My church family was very encouraging and supportive and made me feel comfortable just being me. That process was years in the making, and I'm still a work in progress, but I appreciate your kind words!

When is this foolishness going to end???
No, seriously, when?
I actually was thinking the same thing.....then i just started my own!!! LOL.

When are you going to ask me a question? ;D

You are asked to teach a week of Summer Bible School for tweens & teens. What's your message and what's your syllabus?

@ Ness, ok.
*hangs head low and walks out the door*

If you lived in Utah, were you ever tempted to become a Mormon?
-
If you lived in Utah, were you ever tempted to become a Mormon?
Never. From my perspective, changing my beliefs would be just about as impossible as changing my race (both excluded me from being a part of "the crowd")
-

Maybe briefly, but I really don't think that's where I'll end up. Hey! I resemble that remark!

This handsome nigerian dude gave me that name. ;)

What advice do you have for a young college student who can't seem to focus long enough to study this wretched biology?
Absolutely none. You're talking to a college dropout, lol. I'll shoot you an email when I finish, but by then, you won't need it, lol.
-
What advice do you have for a young college student who can't seem to focus long enough to study this wretched biology?
Give up.
:-\
What? Millions of other people have given up on stuff before, why should he be any different?
-
No. Giving up is not an option. You could go on a one-man crusade to abolish biology as a requirement for your major... I too HATE biology.
-
Fenix is right. Give up!
-
LOL! You crazy...
-
In your lifetime, what is the question you have asked most of yourself and why?
-
In your lifetime, what is the question you have asked most of yourself and why?
What is wrong with you? LOL!
Believe it or not, that probably is the truth. But in my saved life, the biggest one has been "What should I be doing right now--what is God's perfect will for me right now?" That question takes on many forms like, "What should I be learning from this adverse situation?" or, "How do I change my attitude to line up with what glorifies God even though I'm unhappy with whatever is going on" or, "What are some small doable steps I can take to turn this thing around and get it going in the right direction?"
I'm pretty hard on myself, but myself is pretty good at justifying herself when she doesn't want to change. So yeah, me and myself have some Paul-like arguments (that I would do, I do not; that which I hate, I do... Oh wretched [wo]man that I am!)

1. Sermon went well. God really blessed. Ended with an altar full of young folks.
2. I can't remember when my first one was. I started as a speaker for youth services. My first like main Sunday morning message was like in 2009, I think.
3. Believe it or not, Mali Music... I'm really feelin' him right now.

Wow! This was a nice stroll down memory lane... Is it possible to have been wiser than, than now? LOL... a lot more life has happened and my insights all these years ago were things I needed to be reminded of today. Just wow.
