Where do you get your licks from? Do you study specific players/albums and mimic? Take them from tutorial videos (youtube, DVDs, etc.). Sit down and create your own?
I think most of mine come from tutorial videos. I'm trying to find some players/albums to study, however, to build a bigger repertoire.

Wow. This is my kind of thread. I usually try to listen to the guitar licks and try to mimic them. however, I myself have been wondering about new ways to learn different licks and fills so I plan on lurking around this thread.

I try to transcribe jazz solos from horn players and keys and I specifically listen to a lot of John Mclaughlin, Art Tatum, Dream Theater, and Joe Zawinul since they have a lot of printed stuff and instructional materials.
