Gil Scott Heron (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/29/arts/music/gil-scott-heron-voice-of-black-culture-dies-at-62.html?_r=1) a product of the turbulent 60s in America died on May 27. Black awareness and a head on attack against racism was not the full thrust of his music however. He took on politics, corporate greed, the nuclear industry, medical ethics, parenthood, and more.. He led a very troubled life and battled drug addiction for years but he was an extremely prolific songwriter and an astute observer of the times.
