and I' 23 now. So about 18 years.

Post by: bug on February 18, 2005, 05:44:59 PM: I don't remember a time that I first heard music in church and liked it. It must have been when I began to recognize I was in church, which definitely was early, early childhood. I'm 54 now, with several degree's in music, and still learning. Right now I'm exploring block chord scales, and melodies, in conjunction with tritone and perfect fourth voicings. Harmonic clusters (voicing in seconds) and compound extended chords with alterations. I'm experimenting with voice part combinations, where tenor or alto parts carry the melody, and the other voices are singing different tunes. I'm trying some alternate substitutions that are unusual, and finally combinations of voicings in which I am trying harmonic clarity verses harmonic obscurity along a continum of consonant intervals to dissonant intervals.

I spend a little time playing two, three, and four pitch voicings in my left hand, while my right hand solos, and voicings in my right hand while my left hand experiments with various bass melodies.

Experimentation is fun, when I have time to do it.

Organizing files and folders, as well as learning applications has become a new passion for me.

Post by: rlblanks on February 19, 2005, 01:35:49 PM: I'm 24 and I've been playing piano and reading music (simply treble clef) since the age of 5. I've never taken piano lessons. However I have had about 3 moths of Organ Lesson. My preference is Organ however it is a work in progress. While I may play all different stlyes of music, I love gospel music the most. Although my concentration right now is on Spanish and Southern Gospel, I do incorporate different styles and techniques. I almost never play the same song the same 2 times. While Piano and Organ are my main instruments, you can also find my playing on the drums and the trumpet also, as I went thru 3 years of band, at my local Middle School. I love to play, and I do as often as I can, I love to teach... It's truly my passion, I love the idea of passing on the knowledge/gifts/talents that GOD has given me. Often you can find me assisting music directors with selections, compositions and writing/creating arrangements for different pieces. Singing (in my opinion) is probably my weakest point, however I'm told I can be a great choir director, so... go figure. During my band days, I also substituted for the band director at my school. I had the talent but I just didn't want to play in church. I've never too lessons. I guess I was just born with it. I got 4 Pro. level drummers in my family. I learned from standing behind them literally during church service. :D
