When playing shout music and you want to modulate do you do it the same way you do when playing other music (soft music, etc) ?/?

While in a shout... I thinks its easy to do sum licks in that key... And do it in the next keyy... And carry on through out your shout pattern.

that's the best way, though there are certain changes that can be used to go to a different key, not necessarily up to the next key though.

This is a good example

the most common way is the "2-5" walk up....

for example...

Key of Ab

2- Bb / Ab Db F Ab
3- C / Ab C Eb Ab
4- Db / Ab Db F Ab
b4- D / Ab B D F Ab
5- Eb / C Eb Ab

to modulate to Bb, I might use F-G-Bb (both hands) as a melody line....and then do the walk up in Bb....

Another thing I might do is use the lick/route in "It's About Timer For A Miracle" When they are bouncing on the Eb (5) to get to the Ab (1)...

then another popular one is the "Chicago Bump"
then you got the route John P. Kee's band do... (2 -b3-3)

There are so many ways....lol

Looks like my fellow LGMers got this handled. Just wanted to point out that modulation during a shout should NOT be handled like modulation during a slow song. That is all, lol.
