LGM family,
I'm looking for ideas for a song that our 3 choirs can all learn and sing off-the-cuff when we have visitors. We have one that our Pastor selected that in my opinion is not well suited for the occasion. Before I sit down with him to explain why his selected song doesn't work, I'd like to have a recommended replacement in hand.
The problem I have with the current song, "Welcome Into This Place" is that it welcomes the Spirit of God into the sanctuary. I think we should use something more in line with one coming in to join us in worship.
Our congregation is older but trying to embrace younger families (who isn't?). The older Chancel Choir sings 2nd and 3rd Sundays. The more contemporary Praise Connection sings 4th Sunday, the Men's Chorus sings 5th Sunday. All choirs combined sing 1st Sunday. I play bass and/or sing with all of them and direct Praise Connection. I detail this only because the selection needs to be learned / performed by all choirs.
If you can help, title and artist and/or YouTube link will be MUCH appreciated.

Well, "What A Fellowship" is what our church sings during welcome time.
Do you mean "Leaning On The Everlasing Arms"? If so, we do that every Sunday during the passing of the peace. Whether there are visitors or not.

Possibly "Come over here, where the table is spread, and the feast of the Lord is going on" ??
The old-school way, not the Richard Smallwood version.

I don't know the title of the song, but we sing this song 99% of the time for visitors. We play it in F, Reggae style:
"You are welcome in the name of the Lord *2,
For we see in you, the glory of the Lord,
You are welcome in the name of the Lord...
[repeat]
Happy to bear, happy to share,
our burdens with one another that's why we are here"
the other 1% is:
"Let There Be Love Shared Amongst Us"...
Unfortunately the other one that's very popular in my native language wouldn't make sense to your visitors, but the translated lyrics are:
"You have done well by coming,
whilst we are in the presence of the Lord,
to hear His voice"
[repeat as many times as you wish...find a suitable tune to go with lyrics or tweak them...something reggae or shuffle style like...]

We have this song in our Introit rotation to open the service. The choirs typically sing the Introit from the back of the church before the Processional to enter the choir stand. Maybe I need to take it out of the Introit rotation and set it up for a welcome song.
******SHAMELESS PLUG ALERT******
Here's a video of one of the times we used "Enter In" as an Introit. My sons are playing piano and bass on this one.

My home church does the first two verses of Kurt Carr's "Right Time Right Place"

Two up-beat welcome songs that we do (although I don't know who sings them):
Love You With The Love Of The Lord
I love you with the love of the Lord
Yes, I love you with the love of the Lord
I can see in you the glory of the King
And I love you with the Love of the Lord
So Easy To Love
The Jesus in me loves the Jesus in you
The Jesus in me loves the Jesus in you
So easy
So easy
So easy
So easy to love
Both of these should be on YouTube. I'm at work, so I can't look it up right now.
I'm loooking for some others that we can do as well.
