In case you missed it the first time, what better time to GIVE than during the holiday season?! Yayyyyyy for giving!!! Dang, I just got so excited typing this. :D
Anyway, here's the post from the first LGM 10-Day Give.
I came across this a few months ago when I first learned of Christianpf.com (I highly recommend that site, btw). They do it every October, and I've been waiting anxiously to unite with them in October but it hit me: why wait? We can do our own LGM 10-Day Give. We're LGM! We can do a 30-day give if we want! :D
Anyway, here's the premise:
Note: I realize that many of us do good deeds and practice generosity every day of our lives without being a part of a group or joining a "challenge". I know we don't need to log it or share it or join a program in order to do good things. And I also realize that scripture says that if we do our alms secretly, God will reward us openly. So, please know that no one is obligated to report back what you've given and please know that if anyone chooses to, it's not to brag but to encourage others or to share giving ideas. I believe God will be glorified and people will be blessed.
So with that said, anybody wanna join in?
Here are 101 Ways to Give Your Time, Money, Energy or Talent (http://www.moneyhelpforchristians.com/101-ways-to-give/)
And the 10-Day Give's visionary's "day one" report (http://christianpf.com/my-10dg-day-on/) - cute story. He raised a good point too. When you commit to giving, God will open your eyes to countless opportunities to give.
And his "ideas for giving." (http://christianpf.com/ideas-for-giving/)
And the thread is here (http://www.learngospelmusic.com/forums/index.php/topic,79212.0.html) if you want to read some testimonials, results, ideas, etc.
Soooooooooooo.... let's go! Who's in? (And remember, all you need is a heart to give and a desire to participate. You don't have to have money, lots of money, or extra money to participate. You don't have to share details of your giving if you don't want to. You don't have to do anything or report anything. But if you're participating, let us know so we'll know how big this Give is!).
~30k~ ;D

You know Im always down :).
-
Yay! I was hoping you'd join in. You were my biggest inspiration the last go 'round! Yay! When shall we start?
-
Whenever you say! Ive been giving already this week so I just have to start in the official time lol.
-
Last year, I started what I think will be a tradition for me. On my birthday, I pulled my team at church into my office and gave them gifts. I'm not there anymore, but I like the idea of giving gifts for my birthday. Since it happens to be coming up, can we start on Monday? ;D
(That'll also give me some time to plan out my gives).
-
Works for me! I need an address for you as well madamoiselle.
-
Done! :)
-
You know Im always down :).

I learned a lot from everyone in the last give so I'm hoping to make a more lasting impact this time!
Thank you Rue for remembering this!

Yayyyyyy! We're 3 strong... that means we're impacting 30 people, inciting 30 smiles, blessing 30 lives!!! WoooHoooooo!!!!!!!
-
I do this all the time.
But anyways, I bought something for someone, they didn't want it, so I kept some, and gave some away.
They said they're not uncomfortable accepting gifts from people. *shrug*
That kinda offends me. When I want to do for someone and they don't want me to.

Well, This One would prolly offend as well. Not intentional. Just how I am. I've pretty much always bkeen like that. Still dunno if it's good or bad. *scratches dome*

My bad, Sherlocc Homegirl. Wasn't the intent at all. Reading that just made This One pull out the proverbial mirror. :-*

Count me in guys!!
Just reading the topic got my blood rushing in this gloomy, rainy day 8)
I already know what I'll do for my birthday next month [thanks Lalala] :)
Looks like no one wants to set a start date, so I'll list two items fresh on my mind this week:
Wed: Started giving free personal piano lessons to my neighbor who expressed a deep desire to learn how to play piano classics;
Yesterday: I was out and about, from one shopping mall to the next [I took leave to sort out a few things]. I noticed how all the car guards at these malls were desperate for money. So I decided to give a certain amount wherever I had parked, though I barely spent 5 minutes at 3 of the malls. I also gave a fat tip after eating out at some restaurant. I don't know why I did but I just did :)

I think this time around, we should try and focus on witness as well as giving. We know that often a nice gesture can be the gateway to throwing in a word or seed. Thinking of myself, though Im quick to do something even for a complete stranger, often I will do it and just say "God bless you" or even not even let them know. So this time, for every opportunity lets try to make an opportunity. Using Musallio's ex., the next time he goes to the parking lot, say something even as simple as "Jesus loves you and He died for you". Its going to be a challenge for me, but I think we may have some great testimonies! Besides, what can you give better than Christ?

I'm gonna give somebody a piece of my mind.

I'm gonna give 'em HEck.

I'm gonna give 'em HEck.
We speaketh in codes yet we speak the same.

I agree 100% with you BbG. It's too easy to give without using that as an opportunity to minister Christ to the person.
The sister who's my neighbor thinks being christian is for people who are bored. So I will use the lessons as an opportunity to minister the good news to her [and the boyfriend] each time we meet.
Plz pray with me- that the Lord softens their hearts to hear and understand the Good News as I minister 1 day/ week at a time.

We speaketh in codes yet we speak the same.
Indeed we do.
-
LOL @ Kanye and Jonathan. Smh. Y'all so silly.
Excellent idea, BBG. I'm in! Totally ready to start, and I plan to take this weekend to draft a 10-day plan. Yay!
Glad to have you guys on the 'team,' Nessa, Mus, Kanye and Jonathan!
-
If I counted correctly, we're impacting 70 people! TGBTG!!!!!!!

going to give blood on the 14th
On the 17th my wife and I will drop off a platter of food at the hospital that my son was born at for the parents their.
... gotta figure out the rest of the days
-
Since this was on the 3 page I know yall forgot LOL. I just want to share about last night because my heart was so full.
So I drop by Wal Mart to see if theres any hope for a doll that my wife wanted for the Toot. As Im getting out, I hear a "Hey Bruh" but dont see anyone. I keep walking, then I hear and see who it was. He was an older gentleman, not the roughest looking but you could kind of tell he's been through. (SN: I dont know what it is about me and Wal Mart parking lots that God likes to use) Anyway, he asked for some change because there was a Sonic across the street and he was hungry. I said, "How about McDonalds?" because there was one in the back of the store. He agreed and we went in. I could tell he was humble and sincere. He said, "I know I look a little ruff. I'll get me a cut sometime". At that moment I looked back and noticed the salon in front hadnt closed, so I said, "lets go". He looked puzzled, partly cause we changed direction. We went into the salon and I said, "Give him the best cut you've done all day". The barber was a nice woman and actually had some insight on some salvation army info (which is where he lived). We then went to McDonalds and laughed a while because the clerk had an attitude.
He lost his wife quite sometime ago, and everything went down hill from there. He has a daughter in NY that he hasnt seen in yrs. He served some time and got sick in prison, and is now trying to get disability. He said hes sincerely trying to get back on his feet though. The whole time he kept looking at me like, "I cant believe this". Well remembering this thread, I jumped out and asked did he know Jesus loved him and died for him. He said yes and hes been saved for a little while. He asked about my church, and maybe he could catch the bus or visit sometime. I gave him my number and told him to call whenever. I hated leaving him, but he was going to catch the bus. He let me pray for him, so we prayed right there in front of Wal Mart. When we were done (had my eyes closed) his eyes were watery and he had the biggest smile. He said, "woo, man I feel so good right now. I feel it in my soul. You for real brotha. You forreal". I just gave God the glory and encouraged him. His name is Phillip.
This was SUCH a blessing for me. Giving has never been a issue. I'll go over the top in a minute. However God revealed that often when you do that and dont try to attach Him, its not a "Seed" but just a "kind gesture" like anyone can do. Ive struggled in that area and want to do better. Man I was so full, I almost forgot about the doll lol.
-
Ok, This just made me cry. You. Are. Awesome!!!!
That made my day.
Wow.
There's no telling how many people have been rude and mean to him. Thank God he met you!
I'll be praying that he gets back on his feet.
-
That. is. soooooooo. awesome!!!!
I'm adding Phillip to my prayer list and the list for my prayer group.
So ummmm... did you get the doll? just asking...
And yeah, I don't know how I managed to forget the 10DG, but I did. :( I have a lot going on. SMH.
Is anyone else doing it?
-
BbG, we don't forget so easily! Just need to put something of substance here [like you did] ;D
Phil will be in my prayers. This is quite a challenging exercise because I want to build some sort of relationship with whoever I am sowing into as part of this reprise.
So far there's one person I'm sowing into. I have 2 others who I could potentially count, but not just yet.
How's everyone doing at this?
Thanks for this challenge, I'll end up being forced to go to a hospital as there is a host of people who are more willing to receive from the Lord there :D
-
Well Musallio, its a little more loose than you think. You dont necessarily have to sit down and calculate every small detail of it. And it doesn't have to be something grand. Just wake up tomorrow and pray, "Lord, I want to give today. Open my eyes to see opportunity". For example, when Im in the grocery store, often if I see an elderly woman or someone riding those little motorized carts, I take a little more time in the isle because often enough, I get asked to reach in the back of a shelf for something they need or can't get to. Just earlier, this man was looking for a cut of meat, which I see later further down in the line. I pick out the best ones and go back and say, "I know you were looking for these. Heres the best I saw". Those are just simple examples. It doesn't HAVE to be money, food, or a gift. Now I know someone else got some to share or will anyway. :)
-
Thanks- those are nice examples BbG.
I did quite a few then today, yesterday etc. Yesterday I made someone's holiday dream come true:
These people stay about 40 miles from where I stay, but thieves abound where they stay. So I decided to drive to their place, helped them to store their top of the range TV and home theatre system.
They wanted to pay me for the gas etc, but I just told them Jesus is the reason for the season- He gave Himself for them and I, so I can give a little as well.
I refused their money that could have come in handy. tomorrow they're going home, no more worries about their expensive entertainment system being stolen.
I hope my words will make them stop and think about what I did.
It's quite easy then. I'll pray and ask God to setup an opportunity for me tomorrow.

#fail on my side :-[ i know there were opportunities to help but i always came up with an excuse
one day i went to donate blood and got there they said it was a 40 minute wait so I left
saw quite a few cars stopped on the side of the road but i kept driving cause i was trying to get somewhere
had some contractors working on my house thought about making lunch for everyone ... but then my cheap side kicked in :(
A young lady(teenager) came to church in a dress that was too tight and too short (she is trying to to to a teenage young man) thought about taking her and a few other young ladies shopping for some more appropriate clothing... then i figured that would be expensive and it could be considered in appropriate.
my elderly neighbor at midnight was looking at the engine in her car and i saw her out the window ... but i turned my back to go finish watching tv :(
i'm sure there were other countless opportunities that I didn't even notice :(
.... smh
