Title: What do you want for Christmas?
Post by: Arkhams Finest on December 23, 2011, 11:42:05 AM
Let's keep it in the realm of things you think you may actually get (ie don't say 'a million dollars' or a Benz).

Me?  I'd like a pair of Dre Beats Solo HDs

I just got my present. A Vox VT15 practice guitar amp. Half solid state, half tube. :)

Sweet!!!  ;D

Now what I would REALLY want is a good job. :)

Beats by Dre

Trust me, you can do without the Beats by Dre. Mine lasted longer than most, but they will break. It's not a matter of if, but when. And, honestly, the sound quality doesn't justify the price. Instead of replacing mine, I opted for a pair of hifis. Half the price, twice the quality.

Unless you want the Beats just to look cool.

My list:

All I want for Christmas is world peace.

...and I asked for a midi keyboard and an Alesis dock for my iPad. And a Bluetooth keyboard for my iPad.

IDK, haven't really thought about it. I guess being alive will do for now.

I want nothing, actually. What I'll get is money for clothes specifically new suits for work.

You wear suits to work? You don't even like suits. :-\

What do you want for Christmas?

Mmmm... to be honest, I'm not as much into gifts as I am into being thought of. There's nothing that touches me more than knowing that someone thought about me and remembered what I would like or remembered me mentioning that I like this or want this or need that. That touches me, whether it's a $3 dessert or a $$$$ gift. It all touches me the same if there was thought put into it.

Anyway, there's really no hot item that I want this year. I do need a new coat, I always love getting shoes, and you can't go wrong with an edible gift... lol. Unlike a lot of people, I don't mind getting gift cards at all - especially if it's one that shows you know me, where I shop, what I like, etc.

Your brain is VERY interesting.  At the same time, I knew, out of everyone on LGM who has either met me or converses with me regularly, I KNEW you'd remember that.  :-\ :D

And, you're correct, I hate suits...really do.  At the same time, in order for me to prepare for the next level of my career, I will need suits.  :-\ :(

People treat you different when you wear a suit.

I'm too old for that. :)

As to the first part of your statement, I suspected as much. I had a pair of JVC headies (Yeah, I made that up), that cost $50 and they were excellent.

It is a shame that people associate monetary value with the actual worth of an item.

Sad, yo!

Yep.  The many times Ive seen you, NEVER a suit lol.

I didnt really care for anything.  Just wanted Desire'e to have some nice things.  Got her a mix of toys and things that stimulate her gifts, which seem to be singing and art right now.  Actually what I wanted was not to be in Christmas debt afterward and we accomplished that.  We already had money gradually set aside and only went over by 50 bucks.  Im good.  I got some things under the tree though :).

A-to-da-men!

Okay, unrealistically - less aggravation in the New Year. Specifically the type that comes from doing one's calling to the max, only to get nitpicking instead of encouragement. In short, to be treated better by church folk.

realistically - A new fold-up seat, to replace my sagging worn-out piano bench. Or new padding to fix it up. But that repair may be more than the cost of a new one from Guitar Center or Sweetwater...

The only thing I wanted was to see the looks on my kids faces when they got their gifts.  I got that.  Priceless!!!!  When my 15 year-old got his guitar, he literally gave me a bear hug and lifted me off the ground.  LOL!  The wide eyes and even wider smiles made everything worth it for me.

TJ, is right about the Beats by Dre...I have the studios and they aren't any better than my BOSE.

For those looking for headphones, I agree your money will be much better spent on something other than beats by monster aka king of the frivolous lawsuit.

Here are some great pro-grade cans under $100.

Sennheiser HD280 pro
Audio-Technica ATH-M30
Sony MDR 7506
Sony MDR-V6
Shure SRH440

I have ultrasone HFI780 headphones and I like them a lot. Not just the sound, but the spacial aspect too. Sounds like 3D for audio.
