Title: Pressure: Tested and Tried.
Post by: Mysteryman on January 17, 2012, 01:11:18 PM
Do you notice a cycle in your life where you are pressured in your mind to the point where you just want to give up? Sometimes it seems like you always come full circle. Only it takes a longer time to get to that point the next time around. I've noticed that for me there seems to be a cycle of this pressing of the mind to the edge. If you make it though you become stronger. There have been times when things are good so to speak and yet people don't know you are wrestling with this. There are other times when this is brought on by disappointments or tragedy. I always wondered about this. I can understand the latter but the former I find hard to comprehend at times.

Some people say they don't go through this. I know the bible speaks of the lust of the flesh which sometimes is fed by the things we hear and see. There is that part of you at times that  wants to wild out even when you don't feel like doing that. You are able to control it but every so often it's as if the devil came to visit you for a season. Sometimes I wonder if it's just that or your flesh nature. Is all that even necessary being that pressure in the mind?

Just thinking out loud so to speak. I've always wondered why does it seem like you always get pressed to the limit at different stages in life. Is that just how life is or does this only happen to certain people. Is it demonic forces trying to get you to snap? (I have heard of situations where this is true)

What do you mean by 'give up'?  Do you mean the 'give up the whole thing', or, for example, stepping down from ministry, or getting a divorce?

Yeah it could be those things too. You don't want to do it but sometimes it's like a overwhelming feeling of yeah I'm going to do it. Some people give in only to regret it later and some don't. It's a feeling I could imagine Jesus having when he was tempted of the devil or in the garden. I know some people say they don't experience this. It's more than times of just a passing thought but actual pressure in your mind to do the wrong thing.

yep! been there ,done that.If you haven't odds are good you're heading that way.

Paul-who seems to me to be the biggest "rock"outside of CHRIST talks about "being surrounded on every side;despairing to death(2 COR?);all have abandoned me but LORD came and ministered to me (HEBREWS ?).

So-why would we be surprised? All flesh is human-in a "super-human" struggle.Press on + be encouraged.

What if you feel that the actions that precipitated the pressure are unfair/too much for you to bear? Is God, or those who pressure you, to blame?

Just asking...

I would think you'd have to know and not feel as our feelings can get in the way of the realities of a situation.

Many of us blame God which is a part of the delimma. Sometimes I wish I had a better understanding of the human mind and the spirit world. I have not found proof of some of the ideas we have in our understanding of both. I remember after I got saved there were a lot of crazy thoughts in my mind that were not there on that level before I got saved. Or was it the fact that I had more of a conscious of God? It was almost overwhelming but those thoughts went away after a while. Maybe I just learned to control them or maybe it was an attack of the enemy. It seems to me that every so often a rush of those same type of thoughts come back for a season.
