Title: COMPETITION BETWEEN THE BAND AND SINGERS
Post by: Chocolatedrps on September 05, 2012, 09:25:06 PM
I need help!! I am trying to find references or something that I can share with the music ministry that explains how important it is for the music that is being played to accompany the voices versus being in comptetition with them to be the loudest. If any one could help me out I would greatly appreciate it. I am constantly telling the band to quiet down because they are drownging out the singers.

The ideal scenario is that the musicians have their own monitor system and have total control over their own levels. The sound man will control the house levels. If this is not possible and you have persistently requested that they bring down the volume ( assuming you are a person of authority) you may have to simply set their master volume to  the max acceptable level. Drums are a little more difficult. They have to play softer or another option is to get a drum shield with foam.
