I've never heard of this guy until recently, but I love the way he uses dynamics in his playing.  His sound morphs from almost acoustic sounding cleans to high gain and he loves switching between the neck and bridge pick up during songs and uses his volume control judiciously.  He gets lots of variation in tone which helps keep things interesting and doesn't use a lot of effects.  Here he is in concert with Tommy Emmanuel.

Nothing by itself, but sometimes if you want to generate some controlled feedback, you may have to manipulate your guitar in relation to the speaker for the desired effect.  In this instance, it seems more like a response to the music than anything else.
