could someone recomend a few good cds were there is good old church going on.like a live cd were the organist lets loose. I dont play organ I play guitar and would love playing to organs. we have keyboardists but its just a matter of time before we get a hammond so I would like to be prepaired to play with one.

Tyson has plenty of videos on youtube.
You'll actually find more then enough B3 tunes on youtube that you can mirror then on cd because there are very few gospel albums that stricktly feature the B3. Or if they do have B3 playing on the cd, its mixed low on and album and hard to hear.

thanks ill have to check him out . I have some of Bishop G E Pattersons cds and the hamond is easly heard. To bad organs arnt louder in the mix on gospel cdss like the jazz and blues stuff .

Bookmark the links below. They are pretty comprehensive list of some great gospel B3 players (and some jazz B3 players as well).
Go on youtube and do a search on each person listed in those threads and record the videos. You'll have more then enough organists who play in various gospel styles to study for a loooong time.
The organist on those GE Pattersons cd's was probably Derrick Jackson

+1 on Moses Tyson's Music. That was the first organist I ever really heard. I'm not crazy about his style anymore, but it's still good stuff.

Wow thanks I just love the organ .There was a kid a couple of blocks from me well now he is in 50s by the name of Ricky Peterson. He has played with some really big name artists . on you tube he is doing some gospel blues stuff that sounds really nice.

It's interesting how many folk start on Moses Tyson (I did too) and love him in the beginning but then 'move away' from his style after a while. I understand what you mean. They guy has some serious chops, but I just wish he would expand his playing more.
He's a good guy to study regarding the traditional style...repeating notes over and over for emphasis…doing glisses on the board...all the tricks...but after you hear him several times you’ve heard everything he’s gonna do. No disrespect to the guy, and I like hearing him on occasion and he’s a good player to study for foundation playing, but I wish he would do more.
