So Yamaha is releasing a 49 and 61 key Motif. These versions are suppose to have the same engine as the XS. Thoughts, opinions?

those are not going to be cheap

Seems like oversaturation to me. You already have the XF and MOX and if you want XS sounds you can get that so idk, doesn't interest me.

yea I agree with Gospel Engineer... I mean the other 2nd tier boards that Yamaha has done were for good reason (MO MOX), but this one does seem to be a bit on the "NOT NEEDED" range...
I tend to not be interested in the watered down versions of pro boards anyway. But I do suggest them to my buddies on specific budget types.
I'm not sure this board was introduced at the right time or with the right feature set... Guys who want this capability will now probably just go after a MOX (whose prices are going to drop now that the MO MX is out)
only thing special that it brings to the table is the 49 key version... (I guess)

I understand the new Yamaha MX to be very inexpensive, much less than the MOX. I don't recall the exact price. I think the rhythms that it has are more "groove like" than on other boards. I can't comment for sure on the price but I believe that I read that it was about six or seven hundred dollars for the 61. It is, I understand, a basic unit with Motif XS sounds.
If the rhythms are somewhat urban, that might attract a number of people.
