Hello, im new to this LGM.....ok ima get strait to it, I am a bassist, ive been playing since November of 2011.... I've owned basses longer than ive actually played them, I don't know how to learn scales, notes and etc. I just play by ear, and raw GOD-giving talent, but I want to hone my gift, but I don't know what practice regiments to do or how to do them, I never grew up wanting to play bass or ever watched any body at my church play when I was smaller, because we didn't have a bass player... It may sound like I don't know anything but I know a lil bit (thanks to youtube)....second, I live in Houston, Tx and wanna know do anyone want to get together to shed or something, I really don't have any real musical friends...

Greeting brother, welcome, I don't live in Houston, but there is a lot material available out there to learn. scales, notes and anything else you want to learn. I personally used bass guitar tips products. (Alex Simpson) his stuff help me a lot. There are a lot of learning material available. You might consider taking a 3-6 Month private Lessions to get you started. You put in the time and do the work you will get where you want to be.

Welcome to LGM Thump_Muzic. I agree with Splitleft and Waveofthinking. I started playing the bass in January 2010. I started from scratch reading music theory articles and Youtube. After about 4 months of self pace teaching I knew it was time for me to get help. I took about 6 months of private lessons, from a very patient instructor, who bridged some of the gaps for me. Private structured lessons are helpful. If you choose to go with an instructor clearly communicate what it is you desire to learn. Continue to be patient because success does not always happen overnight. Studybass.com is a very good site full of resourceful information and reinforcement tools, I use that site as well. I am currently reading Basic Music Theory: How to Read, Write, and Understand Written Music. The 2nd edition is free and available here: http://www.allabouttrumpet.com/pdf/BMT/BMT-2nd-ed.pdf. (http://www.allabouttrumpet.com/pdf/BMT/BMT-2nd-ed.pdf.) The 4th edition is available on Amazon. The topics are short, direct and to the point. Youtube is a good tool to use to reinforce each topic in this book. Remember practice, practice, practice. Good luck and God bless.
