Title: Sell That Peavey Cirrus 6!
Post by: tristate04 on January 28, 2014, 03:13:01 PM
Sup LGMB - So I have always liked the sight and sounds of a Peavey Cirrus Fretted 6 String Bass. I have had different 6's in the past and want to get back into it. For the price the Peavey Grind 6 looks like a steal but when fully upgraded I might as well got the Cirrus, not to mention resale value if it ever came to that.

Ok so if anyone is looking to get off that Peavey Cirrus 6 let me know. The wish list is great condition, case or bag, all hardware attached, right handed, and say under $1000 shipping included (to Indiana). Of course please post pics.

I prefer PayPal transactions.

Just throwing this out there - thanks tristate04

The US Peavey Cirrus 6 is among the greatest (and most under-rated) basses ever made! It's more versatile than a Smith, while keeping that characteristic mid-range bite they are known for. I love it.

I'm not selling mine.........ever ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Seriously, have you tried Talkbass.com? Every now and then people sell their Cirrus 6's online. Also, call Washington Music Center. They're based in Maryland, but will ship products just about anywhere. And last time I was there, they had two or 3 new old stock Cirrus'.....brand new, just never sold.

CAll 301.946.8808 and ask for Larry Urie, he may be able to help you out. Don't be afraid to bargain either....The Cirrus' may be new, but because they're under-rated, people don't really buy them now. It's worth a shot...

Yo stix I appreciate the comments and suggestions. I haw been watching Talkbass and the Bay. I have been getting hip to the Cirrus sound, pair that up with my Jazz 5 and I will be a happy camper.  Oh and I will look into the WMC as you mentioned, new one to me.

Thanks again.

No worries at all Tristate! Do you have to have a 6 string? I ask because if not, you should include the US Peavey Millennium+ 5 (or 5+, can't remember what the exact model is called...). They are also not made anymore and highly desirable amongst us Peavey fans. They were basically bolt-on Cirrus' with a different premap. It was a 3-band pre, with a variable mid frequency knob. These are also VERY nice and underrated basses.

Found a Cirrus 6 on ebay for you:

See I have been sleeping on the Millennium too but for the time being I think the 6 is what I am after. I have a jazz 5 and an acoustic 5 but to have a 24 fret 6 string oh the possibilities. Who knows, I am thinking Tisdale and Veasley here.

I am watching that Cirrus 6, I think it's the second time it's been put up. Photo 4 is my hang up. Missing truss cover, ok, not a big deal could probably make one, and the fretboard is either really grimy or has some significant wear. Just trying to be patient. I will talk to the seller though.

Did you get a chance to talk to the seller? Pic 4 is a little troubling...but if it's one of the early run US Cirrus', that discoloration may be normal, especially if the bass was played regularly. It may just need a good cleaning....but trust your gut...don't wanna spend that kind of money on a bad instrument.

What's happenin. So yeah I haven't heard from the seller after sending a message with questions a couple days ago. It was kind of odd to that the starting bid changed suddenly to $600 and had a buy it now of $900 or so from $1200. But yeah I am not going to settle, played that game before.

It will happen when it happens but for now I will keep thumpin the jazz 5 and keep havin awesome worship like we had today!

Well, finally found one! Searche high and low and a 6 walnut/bubinga popped up on TalkBass. Put in a reasonable offer and within three days it was at the crib. I put a crude little track together so you can get a good of the tone nearly flat recorded using Audacity. Check it out

Played it this morning for worship and it sits in the mix great, still working on dialing in more tons but it sounds great and the natural wood top looks amazing.

Congrats bro!!! I knew one would show up again at some point. Hope you got a great deal on it! The walnut Cirrus' growl like no other...even the old Indonesian walnut BXP's growled more than my Redwood! I know you like it. I'll check the track out once I get away from Uncle Sam....he doesn't like SoundCloud lol....

Haha thanks man I appreciate it. Still learning to adjust to the whole feel/tone of the bass. It sure is comfortable to play though.

That's awesome! Nice to know someone else is groovin on the bubinga. Lol the profile pic was actually of a TUNE TWB63 I had a few years back. Honestly if the neck wasn't quite that wide I would have kept that bass, very well built.

I will check out your YouTube vids, man I should start doing that during worship. Ok what tips and tricks can you pass along, don't hold out now.

Haha right on.
