Greg Howe.....now be advised that EVERY answer you receive to t his question is nothing more than personal opinion.  Truth of the matter is that there are sooooo many great guitar players out there ranging from the ridiculously overrated (Slash) to the virtually unknown (Tony Palacios).

Personally, I like John Mayer's blues playing (separating the man from the playing here, let's be clear) :)

Well that's the thing.  Talent and character ARE mutually exclusive; but having said that I also think that Mayer is a good guitar player.  You can even here his influence in some of Lincoln Brewster's playing ("Arms of My Savior" immediately comes to mind).

And I have a lot of favorite guitar players who I think are excellent (Steve Morse, Tommy Emmanuel, Tony MacAlpine, Michael Hedges, TJ Helmerich and more), but there is no "best" guitarist at all.

The guys in the video were all amazing.  It made me want to go to guitar center and buy a guitar!
