Remember a while back when Fender gave consumers the option to custom design their own guitars on-line? Well....since then, I've heard that the company (FMIC) will do away with MSRP's and ..........now I'm hearing that they will sell all of their "Fender" banded products direct to customers via their web-site. Could this be a good thing for the consumer? Maybe - maybe not, but this is not going over too well with brick-and-mortar MI retailers. And while I love Fender and plan more Fender purchases in the future, the fact of the matter is that there are alternatives....some may even be better than the original.

This makes me wonder what my local music store will offer in the future.
For years they carried Gibson, but I found out about a month ago they lost their Gibson franchise deal.
They've only had Fender for a couple years, but that may be finished, too.
They do sell Ibanez and ESP/LTD and occasionally carry the Godin/Seagull brands, but I don't think they can survive with just those.
I'll have to visit and talk to the staff to see what's up for the future.

So they can't still buy in bulk from fender? I say find some other manufacturer if there is a big issue. I need to finish reading the article. :)
