Carlos,
Are you the son of the late drummer from the Seventies that was featured in Modern Drummer? and here? http://www.drummerworld.com/drummers/Carlos_Vega.html

That's nice playa. I don't think Pearl would appreciate your snare selection.  Jk.

Tight. Do you find that the cow bell slows down your hi-hat action?

Yes. I actually have a clamp that connects to my bass drum but left it at church. But, yea. I agree that it is not the best place to have a cowbell. Thanks for noticing.

naw, he isn't related to the late carlos vega because i myself asked him that not too long ago.........just a cool name that he shared with a legend and just all arounf great drummer

Playhear and CarlosVegaJunior,
I think that having the cowbell mounted on the hi-hat rod thing varies depending on the hi-hat stand itself. The DW 5000/9000 and the Pearl Eliminators flow so smooth that I personally don't really notice the extra weight. I actually like having it mounted their as long as I have a long enough hi-hat rod.
I am 6'3'' and prefer my toms and hats higher up like Greg Bisonnette style or Carter Beauford. I like the cock pit feel.
Just my two cents in since the subject was brought up because it is an uncommon position for the bell.
Oh yeah... nice setup Carlos

Thanks bro. Yea, the cowbell on the hi hat stand has its pros and cons ofcourse.
Pro:
1.Easy for both hands to hit for different beats and patterns. If it were clamped on the bass drum, it would be hard for the left hand to hit it. If it were on the left, it would be harder for the right hand. I think.
2.Less hardware to carry.
Con:
1.Makes hi hat reflex delay or Lag.
2.Doesnt look to professional. If it matters. (my opinion and i needed a number 2. lol.)
Althought what Sabian knight said. A pretty good stand would not change too much. But there is a little change in the feel, nothing crazy.

Which Series is this bro?
-
Is that snare made by Dixon? Let me know.
-
Hey Carlos, what nationality are you? You don't look straight hispanic. I am a complete mutt.
I like your kit...How do you like Pearl? any regrets? and as JFunky asked, what kind of Pearl kit is it?
-

I will answer everyones question here:
JFunky, i have a Pearl BRX (meaning its 100% all birch shells), and the "series" would be the Masters Studio NOT to be cunfused with the Session series. This is above it as far as drum hardware and other small stuff.
Audiocr381ve: NO, that snare is NOT made by dixon. It's exactly what JFunky wrote, ITS A DW. Thanks by the way. And yea, im trying to unite them like Sprint and Nextell! lol
Eccentric-Rhythm: WOW, i cant believe someone actuially noticed my nationality. Well, actually i am half puerto rican and mexican BUT born in Los Angeles. Yup. Im all messed up bro. A real mut. Oh, and i try to play like a brotha.lol.
Funkaddictus_Groovus: Read what i replied to JFunky. It is not a session. And, as far as you not liking the fades on drums. Thats cool. Alot of people like different things. Anyway, i love this fade cause you can really see through it. YOu see the wood grain likek if it were just a clear coat. Lates.
Thanks for all the great questions and comments. Keep em' coming. Guys. Thanks.

Yeah I'm very familiar with the BRX Series. When I was 18 I wanted to get a BRX just because Marvin McQuitty used that kit. I drooled when I first saw it at Sam Ashe. Now what's funny is that I've been wanting a Yamaha Birch Custom and that's what he's using also. Well, he upgraded to a Beech kit now but I still want a Birch. I'm a Marvin fan Fo' Life. Nice kit though. Play on Playa. 8)

I noticed because I am Also all mixed. British, Irish, Scottish, German, Spanish, French, Danish & Welsch. Yes all of them!!!! I got my Rhythm from my Mom & Grandma who grew up with churches in Compton. My Grandma was the Piano player, and I learned how to play with her...Some people get shocked when they see this "white boy" get down on the drums....What can I say but Thank God for giving me Rhythm!!

Carlos...Do you like your Masters kit? Do you like the response of Birch? Any complaints or recommendations? How do you feel about the Reference kit?
Thanks.
God Bless...

I am in love with my kit. It is still pretty new. I think i have only had it for about 6 months. I was actually gonna try and get one at the namm show but got an even better deal with my boy GLENN from west la music. He helps us out alot (church).
I really have nothing to complain about. hardware is amazing.
Virgin kick, awesome punch.
The birch sounds amazing. Its the EQ'ed wood. So they say..
But, i am still trying to get a 8 inch in the same finish. Even if i have to sell my 12 inch tom. But they are great drums.
Refrence series is sick too. The hardware on shells is more advance. They actually sorta swivel for a nice setting drum head application. But i still love my brx yo!
