Not to take away from the other thread, but maybe it would be useful to determine what a succesful ministry is?
Noah preached for several hundred years, and only eight people were saved. Was his ministry successful?
Jeremiah preached repentance so that GOD's people wouldn't be taken captive. They refused to listen, and they were taken captive. Was he a successful prophet?
Of the seven churches that Jesus spoke to in Revelation, there were two that Jesus had nothing but good things to say about. Were they successful? Yes, but not to human standards. One of them considered themselves small, and the other was being crushed to death. But in Jesus' eyes, they were doing exactly what they should be doing, and HE told them just to hold fast. Wow. 8O
When Jesus started preaching hard doctrine, man of HIS own disciples left following HIM and returned to their old associations. So does that mean HE shouldn't have said what HE said? Of course not.
It is very improtant that we don't be fooled by the megachurches, the huge complexes, and the glits and glamour. All of that is wonderful, but a successful ministry is simply knowing that you did what GOD sent you to do. You said what HE told you to say, and sang what HE sent you to sing.
That's all a successful ministry has ever been, or ever will be.
Let's think on this, and . . .
Be Blessed :D

a successfull church is a church that does what God called them to do... and what is that? ..... to destroy the works of the devil. Simply put, that is our purpose everything else.. gifts,talents, spiritual gifts, those are all there to help us do what God has caleld us to do.
Success isn't judged by how many solos you get, or how many albums you put out, but it is judged by whether or not you did what God sent you here to do.... Jesus was a success.. why? because He did what God told Him to do, He did what He was sent here to do... and People of God note this, He did it in three years..... so my question is this... what's taking us soooo long. from the day He was baptized He started His work and it took Him three years. all the time leading up to this point was all preparing Him but when it came down to it He fullfilled His destiny in three years when He found out His purpose....when He opened up the book in the temple that day and read that "the Spirit of the Lord God is upon me"....he saw Hiimself in the Bible, he saw His purpose in the Book
be blessed.

Success = Effective
Effective = Success
Success in ministry also = obedience.
Obedience = Love for God.
Love for God = Severice to Him
To serve Him = to care for People
care for = provide leadership
provide leadership = to follow
to follow = submission
submission = elevation
elevation = success

it can all be summed up by following this. being where God says you should be when he says you should be there
i'm not talking about location. it is progression and position according to what His mind and heart. if you do that you'll be defeating the devil by doing exactly what God has for you to do, whether it is prophesying, saving souls, preaching, praying, planting seeds--(very under rated- you may never see the harvest one sows one waters God brings to fruition) a word to day is one brick in building the whole house of salvation tomorrow
i'm getting off subject so i'll stop. :roll: :)
