I have had a dream for a few years of starting a local music group with some of my friends and church members. I want to know a criteria to go by in selecting who I want as my singers. I know the type of musicians I want, but I'm having trouble with the singers I want. Can I get some advice from you all? Thanks.

you may want to talk to Inhope or Lextar here of LGM. They both have started community chiors.

Thanks. How do I get to them?

Well for what it's worth, I have my own choir. (Acts Community Choir), and I got my people like this, I made sure they had some kind of Jesus in them, at least enough that I could work with it, that's the first thing.
The next is you want (in my opinon) not a choir full of soloist. IT DON'T WORK!!! You get some key soloist, but get people that can sing moderatly and some that just can keep a note... TONE DEAFNESS ON APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED!!! Stay away form the "STARS" and the "BIG SHOTS", trust me they will shut it down qu to the ickly...
