Yeah....but ( not tryin to be too negative ), if they all of a sudden break out into a solo, EVERY SERVICE, it COULD appear as if they are showing off a little bit.

I know a pastor like that, and maybe it's just me, but it just appears staged somtimes.

Pastor Rondey Bolden (Richland Baptist Church) - He and his wife sang with Tri-City through the first 3 cd's, took sabbatical from the choir to pastor full-time, and came back for the finale'

Pastor Curtis Johnson (Valleybrook Outreach)
Pastor Renea Glenn (Life Center Ministries)

Those last two...talk about a double threat of leading you into the presence of God and AWESOME preaching and teaching of the gospel!

Forgive me, but it is funny how many pastors wish they could sing! WISH they could sing!

And boy, do they try . . . bless their hearts, they try so hard, like finding a melody is rocket science or something . . . but . . . . heheheheeee . . . sorry . . . . but sometimes, you just be like . . . "Please, pastor, please . . . . we've had enough, just open the Bible and find your text for today" . . . heeheeeheeeeeeheee

I know of a couple of pastors that can and that's alway nice to get the word and the pastor end it with song. I have heard other pastors (who couldn't sing) say that pastors only do that when they can't preach...Sounds like a little haterism to me.My experience has been pastors that sing can bring the spirit with the word as well.

My brother (who is my pastor) can SANG!!  He doesn't sing every Sunday before he preaches but most of the time he does and when he does, he tears it up so that he can't get the people to settle down so he can preach.  We consider it a treat to hear him and love it when he sings, especially when we have visitors.  He's also an anointed preacher who will be the guest speaker at the United Holy Church of America Northern District Convocation on Friday, June 9, in Philadelphia this year.

There was a small church here that had few members. They received a new pastor and he could sang and gave great sermons. As a matter of fact he use to sing with a popular group.I forget which group. Well, anyway their congregation began to grow. They had to rebuild because their congregation grew so. Some pastors don't think music is important. I think music can be just as important as the word. Songs also tell a story using the word. Well maybe not as important but important just the same...

It has been my experience that a Pastor that sings and has a real understanding of how important music is...usually doesnt mind spending money to have a top notch sound system.  In the churches that I have sung and played whre the Pastor didnt sing often didint really have a good system  This was usally in some of the smaller churches.  The larger churches usually  understand the importance .

could it also just be the size of the church as to they can or cant afford a good sound system?

That could be the case as well b/c we are a small church but we have a banging sound system b/c our Apostle understands the importance.

If a Pastor is serious about singing and is a really good singer, they know the importance of a good sound system and will usually make a personal sacrifice to make sure the church has a good sound system.

Right,  ::) ?/? :o
One before or after, not during.  WOW

However, my pastor and 1st lady can blow. Pastor blows on any older song like, "hold to His hand" "father I streach my hand to thee", "down through the years", 1st lady blow on things like "faith", "I won't complain", "when I see Jesus"  :'(   and any song she leads with the choir.

Well, I am the Minister of Music at Arnett Chapel AME Church in Quincy Florida.  My Pastor Rev. Willie Hagan often comments about his enability to hold a note.  But he wished to sing.  He come to choir rehearsal and listens.  I thought he was auditing me and the choir because they pay me well.  It's the only job I have.  And He could have been but I find him trying to sing on SUNDAY mornings as if he has had a class or something.  It is funny but he does try.
