I got a technique out of a book but I forgot how it worked but you lay on your back on the floor. And you practice using vibrato and not using it. Some posted it in the singers room. Try it in the search.

Speaking of James Hall....Ricky Dillard as well, have choirs that are known for having obnoctious vibrato. It drives me up the wall personally.  It's cool if you have a natural, subtle tremor of the jaw but now it's like a fad to look like a bobble head doll  :o.  I mean, head just bouncing all around looking like a guppy on dry land.  It doesn't do anything but make folks look like they kinda special   :P.

Vibrato is a natural accurance. It happens when singing (and exhaling at the same time). When these both happen, air is pushed up through your throat, but it only works when the throat is relaxed. It takes a while to get it, but once it happens and you understand how it feels, you will be able to achieve it more often.

I love it I love it.....Any choir that is able to use heavy vibrato and control it the way Ricky Dillard's choir does, gets an A+ for their vocals in my opinion.

I didn't say that they don't have any control over their vocals.  I just said all the bouncing of the head and jaw is pointless and makes them look crazy.  That's all.  They sound good, even though the vibrato is obnoctious, they just look "kinda special"  :o.

Yeah, I agree with you Mysteryman. They must not know that vibrato doesn't come from the jaw. If they did they wouldn't do that. And thank you Jonathan for agreeing with me. I guess since you didn't **poof** in, my spelling was alright.  :D I am a reading and spelling person myself but sometimes I just don't feel like looking stuff up.  Do they have a spell check on here at all?  Sorry to get off the subject a little there.  Continue.......... ;)

Why thank you Peachlyn. I'm just saying the truth though. It trips me out every time I see people like that. And if their head is not bouncing around then it's the bottom jaw going crazy.  Lord help us......... ;)
