Wassup man. My name is DJ. I have been playing bass for about six years. I don't know if this a close enough range for you, but I am going to nineteen next month. The advantage that we, especially you have on the older guys in here is that we have more potential. If you just stick with it no matter how hard it gets, you have no choice but to be great. I know from personal experience that there are going to be times when you feel like you aren't learning anything, but just stay focused and stay in the word of God and you can't go wrong.

Much love in Christ,

DJ

Thanks guys. I should'v asked this question about a year ago when i first joined LGM. Now it feels like i'v just joined again  :D . Well i guess that kinda makes me the youngest bassist on LGM. Wow. Well i think it's true what you said about us havin the advantage DJ because my school i am at semi-professional level. I have progressed a lot in a year and i give God thanks for that. I've been on activebass.com many many times. I like the challenges they put on there.

P.S. I don't go to an upper class school. My pictur is from a wedding. :D

Wow! I guess us 'older' guys just don't have any further potential, huh?! There is no age limit to anyones potential for anything in life!

Whats up man I am a little over nineteen and i have been playing for about 5 or 6 years. The best advice I can give to you is learn all your theory stuff now man. I am just now starting to learn scales chords notes even. Also where i am from there are very few bassists so I had to learn from listening to cds. So i would suggest finding a couple of groups bassists you like. I learned a lot of Fred hammonds cd's kirk franklin and all the mass choir stuff i could find especially mississippi. You made a good choice with the bass because you will find for every bassist there is like at least 5 keys players and probably 20 drummers. Be blessed
