Post by: 4hisglory on October 19, 2006, 07:47:23 AM

Personally, I do.  First off, music is just more than sounding and looking good to me.  It's my therapy.  Couple that w/the joy of knowing that something I love like breathing will draw me that much closer to He who holds my future... :o My fault, what was the question again?  :-[  :D

God has been working with me to take everything I do for him seriously!!  I recently got into the music ministry of the church.  Last year I watched a Documentary from G. Craig Lewis www.exministries.com that changed the way I look at music ministry..  The documentary discusses "The Truth Behind Hip Hop" , there is also so much contraversy over this DVD that this man has come out with, but pretty much it discusses how Hip Hop is influences the church and that Hip Hop is tool that the devil using to get into the church and it's working!   Check it out!

Also the only way to take the ministry is SERIOUSLY!!

When I first started I didn't take it serious, as I began to understand my true purpose in the music ministry I take it very serious. I would say reading the word has helped me understand alot better. Be blessed

Our church watched all of G. Craig Lewis’s videos and discussed them. I found them to be harsh in nature but we must keep in mind that truth almost always hurts at least at first.

As far as the music MINISTRY can one minister for the true GOD with any compromise? I think not…..  Ministry is not just a job or even a career it is a calling to holiness “be ye holy for I am holy”
So the Question of taking it serious is there any other way to take it.

By the way 4hisGlory I will behave this time. “lol”

Peace….

I do not think majority of the people take the ministry of the gospel through music seriously.

One reason is if many took it as serious as the devil does, we will see people get healed, delivered as the music goes forth.

Another reason is that if we took it seriously, we would not ask/expect for pay to give God "praise". Jesus said, "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses". (Matthew 10:7-9)". We would use the musical talents freely to glorify him. When you begin to take pay, you begin to take part of the Glory (thats another topic).

If we took the gospel seriously, so many songs that people are singing in the church would not be sang. For God will give you a song prophetically that applies to that appointed time. And all will be on one accord. We would not incorporate the music of the world into that of gospel music.

If taken seriously, we would not have pride and show, for it will be completely to give God the Glory.  We would also prepare ourselves through consecration, fasting and prayer. And not just a 30 second prayer before rehearsal and a program.

IF we took the ministry of gospel through music seriously, we would be completely submissive to the Holy Ghost, instead of trying to get people to move their body and try to stir up emotions. The music will be our life, Our worship will be our life, and not words put to sound.

yes i do.

the Lord giveth and the Lord, taketh away. don't play around with this ministry. This gospel that we are preaching, singing, teaching, praise dancing, etc. is nothing to be taking lightly with. You don't play around with God and You don't play around with how the word is getting out to the people. no i don't take money when i am doing my job as a youth choir director,God gave me this job at the ministry im at. I give him glory and honor for all that HE is doing. Not by might, not by power, but by my spirit saith the Lord!! this is a WARNING TO ALL: don't play around cuz the gift he gives you, he might take it away, if you playing around wit it.Cuz there are plenty of people who would love to do what you doing for Christ, so be careful cuz if he take it away from you. Heed the Word, take it to heart and sometimes you need to check yo self, make sure you staying in the right place.

The real ben and strugglin bass and piano player are on point. First I should say that the real ben I have found your post to be very thought provoking and enlightening. You are a true man of God. Strugglin bass I feel you on G Craig. He helped transform some of my views on music period!! Watching that DVD was great because you could see demons being casted out of kids. I find it strange that this brother isn't getting invited to the mainstream mega churches. I guess I should'nt be suprised when he is calling out the preaching heavyweights of generation. G Craig is a true man of God who isn't afraid to preach the truth. HE is consistent with biblical figures who challenged the pop culture of religion. Music carries a spirit to it like no other entity in this earth. TO ignore its spiritual importance to be in total rebellion to GOD especially you haven't sought after the truth. Especially the truth that brother lewis drops in that sermon series.

furious

PS strugglin bass you should change your name to something else. How can you expect to become a great musician if you proclaim that you aren't that good. Jesus said we can have what we say. WE must speak words of life. I declare that you will become a great musician and no longer "struggle"

we should take all parts of the ministry seriously if you don't then what you are saying that " I'll keep this and throw the rest away. But that cannot be because all should be taken seious when you are working for the Lord

I take it very seriously.  Does everyone take it seriously? No.  Look at cats that showoff in church, that play Suinday after Sunday and not try to get better, that use their gift to attract attention, that don't cooperate with other muscians, that don't listen to constructive critcism, that cop attitudes with their peers...............I could go on and on.

You'll loose too much time trying to define everyone else.  It takes me all day to worry about Al. ;)

Out of 100% like 95%. Sometimes I mess around with the keyboard, but when it's time to be serious, oh boy I'm serious.

I'm working on getting to 100%.
