**THIS JUST IN!!!! PLEASE SEARCH BEFORE YOU JUST ASK FOR TABS!!!!!!** (if i find a request for a tab that already exists and you didn't take the time to search it wil lbe deleted).
In order to help keep things in order I will be enforing a new tab/chord asking policy.
If you want to ask for tabs all request must be placed in the thread of the chords/tab's child forum labeled: **** TAB REQUESTS HERE!!!!! ****( http://www.learngospelmusic.com/forums/index.php/topic,34382.0.html )
If someone wants to post tabs they'll check out that link and see the lastest request and work from there.
To request tabs you need to list the Artist and the version or albumn that it's on. If you don't know then please take the time to figure it out before you request the tabs.
If these threads are made outside of that tab requests thread it will be merged to that thread and/or deleted if that request already exists.
This is to keep other valuable threads from being bumped down and to keep from seeing xxx ammounts of "i needs tabs for this song" threads popping up.
Thanks for your time and if you have any concerns let me know.
UPDATE: If you don't post your tab request in the right place it's subject to deletion without notification.

I have a question concerning "TABS"....After doing a simple TAB on a song... ?/?How can I get someone to show me how to add a little flavor to it? ?/?

Create a thread called with the following topic:
Exercise: insert song name.
be sure to include the word Exercise before the songs name so that we know that everyone can add theri variations. Then it becomes more of a learning process and you see how other's approach the song.
The tab request thread is for those that want complete tabs and that's that. If you've created a tab and you want to do an exercise with it then please feel free.

Yeah that would be very helpful and informative

that's just that status quo for labeling sub-forums here on LGM. THey're just referred to as child forums.

Jeremyr,
Kudos for slappin' the tab requests into shape! (http://www.talkbass.com/forum/images/smilies/hyper.gif)
Another idea to consider.......
When requesting a tab, try to identify the artist and album for the version you are trying to learn. How many versions of "Lord I Lift Your Name On High" are there? "Amazing Grace"? "We've Come This Far By Faith"?
Knowing the artist and album can also help those who are willing to help post tabs look to see if they have it and can work it out quickly. A while ago, somebody asked me for "Soldier In The Army" by Fred Hammond. I'd never listened to it before, but after he told me the artist and album, I found it, listened to it and tabbed it.
Peace,
James

Child is a computer programmer's term. You can spot programmers a mile away. :D

Aye, Aye SIR!!! <HAND SALUTE, RIGHT FACE,DISMISSED>

Yep, it's like in a flow chart, unidirectional, saying you have to have one before you can have the other: A parent (main group) have to exist before you can have the child (subgroup). People will remove the parent group then be all "shocked" when they get all kinds of errors! (I'm talking about myself).

I have been looking at the chords for various songs. I just started playing bass again after over 20 years. On the chord charts i see notes for RH & LH. Is the for left hand and right hand or for guitar and bass notes. Please explain. I hope that LH is for the left hand on the piano which would be the bass clef or bass notes.

I have a show on ustream.tv . It's geared towards showing beginners things needed to take their playing to the next level. When I first learned how to play <no one would show me anything so I had to learn on my own. Im not claiming to know everything nor am I claiming to be a beast on bass. I just wanna help anyone who needs it. The show is very informal. I teach some or just answer questions. Come check me out. Follow the link and sign up. Then you can 'follow' my show. Here's the link http://www.ustream.tv/channel/semajbowens (http://www.ustream.tv/channel/semajbowens)

thanks for your work. please can you teach me tab or how to read tabs on bass guitar? i'm just a new learning bass guitarist. thanks for your cooperation.

This is the 1st time I have made a request. I have learned to play some songs on the bass that I got from this site after I joined. It gave me the words and the notes. Now the site is under construction. I am told to now make a request. I looked at other requests but I hae not seen a rply with words or notes. I was able to copy a list of songs w/artist and even get the song in the key that I want.
Tell me, is the ability to get songs for the bass in a key as before still accessable and if so.... please walk me throug the process.
I did not understand what was ment by a "thread". Like others who might not admit to it; I am a person who likes the bass and am for the most part learning on my on. So please explain so I can continue to learn how to proggress.
Thanks,
chiefstaten

hey i was wondering if you had any tabs or anything for kirk franklins "Dont Cry" song...im really trying to learn it but its hard to just listen to the song and figure it out...i have been playing bass for only about a year now. please help me out
-
It's hard to hear the bass notes during the early part of the song. If you go to the 4:10 mark on the youtube video, it comes in real clear. The notes are not that difficult you will see. Whwn get to my equipment tonight, I'll post the numbers.

Ibanezman205,
Welcome to the LGM bass forum.
Should I assume that the 205 is the Ibanez model that you are playing? If so, I will approach this as if you are playing a 5-string.
What I am hearing is a song in Eb. The pattern of this song is very common in gospel music, so once you learn this, play this pattern in several keys....Eb, Ab, Db, C, G...you'll get a lot of mileage out of it.
This on also takes advantage of a lot of "4ths" to pretty the song up.
Here are the bassics....
Eb - Ab, Db - Gb, Gb-F-Eb-Db-C - F, F-C-Bb, then walk down Bb-Ab-Gb-F and repeat the whole line.
Start with the the Eb on the A-string (6th fret). Play it with your pinky finger and you'll be in good position for the whole song. Then the Ab is 6th fret D-string, also played with pinky.
The Db is played with your middle finger. 4th fret on A. Gb is same finger, 4th fret on D-string.
Then that quick little walk down run is played with middle, index, pinky, middle, and index.
The F (3rd fret on D-string) is played with index finger. F-C-Bb is played index-index-pinky.
The walk down starts on Bb (pinky on 6th fret, E-string), middle on 4th fret, index on 3rd fret, pinky on 6th fret B-string .
Try that. I will try to post a video later.
Peace,
James

Very clear, Malthumb, helped me too.

Very clear, Malthumb, helped me too.
Glad to help. Made a mistake though, so let me correct that.
The walk down starts on Bb (pinky on 6th fret, E-string), middle on 4th fret, index on 3rd fret, pinky on 7th fret B-string,pinky on 6th fret B-string .
That was kinda my whole point of assuming IbanezMan205 was using a 5-string. The most efficient way I've found to play this puts those last two notes on the B-string instead of the very low end of the E string.
And index finger on the 3rd fret would give you a G, not a Gb.
Sorry for the fingering mixup.

No problemo. I'm deep into numbers and patterns. Plenty of info. Have a good one.

Hmmmm. Sure is. Is there a particular song you were trying to link to? If so, let me know which. If it is one that I wrote I may still have it in my hard drive. Or I may have set up a video for it and can link you to that.
