Title: Lakland Basses
Post by: on June 26, 2004, 10:29:10 PM
I am looking to buy a new bass, 5 string, and have read some about Lakland basses.  The music stores close to me dont carry them so I'm asking has anybody played / have one?
Give me any opinions.....Thanks and God Bless......

Remember God loves the Bass guitar!

I used to own 2 of them and I loved them! They have an old vintage P and J sound, as well as the musicman sound, because of the different pickup configurations.  They can be played in active and passive modes, (thank goodness!)  They sound great, very playable and light.  I only sold them because I suddenly fell in love with an MTD and needed some cash to buy it.  There are many excellent players who play them and love them.  I give 'em a 10.

All the best!

Lakland...the bass of choice for Randy "The Emperor" Jackson.

In case you didn't noticed him on the Grammys.

The Lakland USA series of basses are considered to be an improvement over the typical Fender Jazz Bass.  They're pricier than Fenders but not as pricey as Sadowsky basses, which are consider the quintessential Jazz bass.

The Lakland Skyline basses are made in Korea and considered to be among the best bargains in the business for professional level basses.  The Skyline 44-02 and 55-02 models include the same electronics package as the USA 55-94 model.  I used to own a Skyline 55-02 fretless.  It was a really nice bass.  I would have kept it, but something better came along at a really reasonable price, and I only need one fretless.

Peace,

James
